I implemented a simple DIY Python script which downloads and installs selected firmware version into the openSPOT connected to an USB port of a Linux computer.

usage: ospupdfw [-h] [--version] [-d [DEVICE]] [-i] [-t {beta,stable}]
[-fw FW_VERSION] [-hw HW_VERSION]

Update SharkRF openSPOT firmware

optional arguments:
-h, --help show this help message and exit
--version show program's version number and exit
-d [DEVICE], --device [DEVICE]
device port where openSPOT is connected to (default:
/dev/ttyACM0)
-i, --info print device info and exit (default: False)
-t {beta,stable}, --type {beta,stable}
firmware type (default: stable)
-fw FW_VERSION, --firmware FW_VERSION
firmware version to download and install (default:
0127)
-hw HW_VERSION, --hardware HW_VERSION
hardware version (see the sticker at bottom of your
openSPOT) (default: 1.1)

Download the script at http://www.arpotechno.fi/files/ospupdfw (save link as), make in runable (chmod +x ospupdfw). You only need to connect the USB cable of your OSP to the computer for the data transfer and control.

To check current version type a command ./ospupdfw -i
Current stable version is simply installed using command ./ospupdfw
