I need a "easy explanation" how to connect my MOTOROLA DP4801e with openSPOT:
1) configuration in MOTOTRBO CPS
2) configuration in openSPOT
A big TNX in advance!

This is the video that got me pointed in the right direction:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97HNQHmIuEs
The video shows how to program repeaters, but the process is basically the same for openspot. The important distinction being that openspot operates in simplex, so the RX and TX frequency for *each* channel in CPS must match those in the openspot connectors tab (set to Homebrew/MMDVM). Don't forget to enter your DMR ID on the openspot connectors tab and in the CPS, and specify the server in openspot. Openspot modem should be set to DMR Hotspot.
Digital contacts in CPS are generally all group calls (except for 'parrot' and 'status' et. al.). Per channel Color Code and Time Slot settings in CPS are 1 and 2 respectively for openspot. In CPS, make sure each channel points to the correct digital contact in the Contact Name drop down under TX, set your TX power to low, adjust your Time Out Timer (TOT) to your preference (mine is 360 sec.), set Admit Criteria to 'Color Code Free' and In Call Criteria to 'Follow Admit Criteria.' Most other CPS settings can be left as their defaults.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but give the video a shot and start programming with the settings I explained and see where that takes you...

BTW, I have the XPR7550, which is essentially the same radio, and openspot works GREAT with it. When you get a working codeplug going, you'll want to take the next step to program the openspot and radio to change 'profiles' from the radio. You can set up a profile in openspot, for instance, for crossmode DMR -->C4FM, and switch to it by making a private call to 90001 (for profile 1, for example) from your radio. You could also set up a profile for DMRPlus in profile slot 2 and switch to it from the radio with a private call to 90002.
Cool stuff, and it works great!

Oh, I almost forgot. On the openspot Modem tab, you'll want to set your simplex frequency accordingly, as well as the DMR Demodulation Mode. When I calibrated my XPR7550, it set this option to Mode D, so that's likely what you'll want to use. If this setting doesn't work with your radio, go through the steps to calibrate your radio as described in the openspot users manual...

Not a problem!
Oh, by the way, you can copy/paste channels in Motorola CPS so as to avoid re-entering the same simplex frequencies and default settings over and over. All you have to do (after creating a new digital contact for a new channel) is to *right click* the last channel created in the zone you're working in. Select COPY. Then, simply *right click* again on the zone's folder and choose PASTE. A new channel is created at the end of the list in that zone. All you have to do then is change the name of the channel and select the appropriate digital contact you created for the channel from the drop-down menu.
BIG Time saver!

Hi Luigi!
Unfortunately, manually dialing a group call from the keypad is not possible (out of the box) in Motorola radios. Keypad entries can only be sent out as a private call, and therefore cannot be used to change TG's in Brandmeister (which are sent out as group calls).
So, if you want to change TG's you have to have it in your codeplug already, switch to the zone it's in, use the channel knob to select it, and key the mic.
However, I believe the feature for keypad dialing of group calls may be purchased through European and Asian versions of the Motorola CPS. Ask around locally and you're likely to get an answer. Here in the USA, there are expensive workarounds that can be installed on the option board, but my understanding is that they are a pain in the a** to use.
The good news is that the private call function of the front keypad CAN be used to change profiles on the openspot! As stated earlier, you can set up a crossmode profile in the openspot, assign it to a profile number in the web interface, and switch to it via the radio.
For instance, let's say you have dmr set up and running in openspot. But now you want to do cross mode to c4fm. Go to the settings tab of the openspot web interface and switch to profile #1, adjust all the settings necessary for crossmode to c4fm and save them as you go. All your settings for Brandmeister DMR remain in profile #0 (default), but your crossmode settings now dwell in profile #1.
From the radio, pull up the contacts menu. The last entry is manual dial. Select it. Dial 90000 for defualt profile 0 (default), 90001 for profile 1, 90002 for profile 2, and so on...
Better yet...in the CPS, assign a button to invoke manual dial. Write the new settings to the radio. Press the button on the radio, dial up your profile number and PTT. You're in!!!
Good stuff!

Hello William,
I followed all your information and now DM4801e work also in C4FM, etc....
But persist some problems:
1)when is active on openSPOT the cross-mode profile DMR>C4FM I don't see on display of Motorola any callsign or ID of radioham connected but only "TG9 with my ID" ( everytime with my callsign).
Where I mistake? something wrong with setting?
2) can I change server YSFReflector from the radio or on the CPS ?

Motorola radios do not support the talker alias feature, so you won't be able to see the callsign of the remote C4FM station. You can change YSFreflector servers by setting up different servers in different profiles and switching between them using your radio.

"You can change YSFreflector servers by setting up different servers in different profiles and switching between them using your radio."
Can you explain what I need to store to identify a YSFReflector server?
For example : to store IT-ITALY FREE server into MOTOTRBO CPS which data should I enter?
Where I find the data of YSFReflector servers?

You only need to set up a channel with TG9 as the TX contact in your radio. To switch profiles, you have to start a short call to 9000 appended by the profile ID. More information about this is available in the user manual.

TNX a lot for the link!
To registry a server I use the ID as identificative and nothing more?
