Dstar continuous interruptions

Hi guys .! Any news about the annoying and continuos interruptions regarding the dstar flow ? I have read many posts about it ,but nothing should be fixed at today. Many thanks and 73 DE ISØAGA .

What interruptions do you mean? We have not received anything about that yet.

During rx by any kind of dstar radio like th74 id51 , 2820 etc... every some second there are some quick interruptions or completely loss of voice for some seconds , I’ve tried to regulate the dejitter in some values starting from the minum to 3k, but nothing is changed . All checked via solid connectivity ,at home “ping stable no more 10” or the same via mobile 3g/lte.. nothing was Improved . By mmdvm dvmega o zumspot all perfect no issues.
This report Is verified by many people. We ere a little bit disappointed, we are trying many setups , but we love to do troubleshooting 😉 but now without valid solitons. Many thanks .

Nobody reported anything like this.

- Which connector and server do you use?
- What radio do you have the issue with? You listed several radios, all of them has the interrupts exactly at the same time? Can you please verify that?
- Does the dejitter queue graph show invalid seqnum errors?
- What openSPOT firmware version do you use?

All radios checked and interrupts simultaneously, generally kenwood th74 and icom id51 plus2, verified the same issue on the last 4/5 beta releases , now I’m on the latest 130. I put here some screenshots about my actual status, today I’m working on 3g mobile connectivity. Logically I’m reporting only the worsts graphics.

Ps the same issue is reported with solid broadband connections by other guys working on SharkRF...

Interruptions are caused by lost packets, as you can see on the dejitter queue graph. A high speed internet connection does not mean that UDP packets won't get lost during travel from a distant server. Also the server can have connection issues.

In passato Openspot era molto sensibile a piccole perdite di pacchetti, ora è diventato molto piu' stabile. In realtà a volte si possono ricevere piccole interruzioni che invece su Ircddb o sui ponti non si rilevano, ma in generale funziona bene.
Se vuoi fare delle prove sul REF080A puoi usare la dashboard per rilevare il BER con cui arrivi al server

In the past Openspot was very sensitive to small packet leaks, now it has become much more stable.
Sometimes small interruptions can be detect that instead of Ircddb or repeater are not detected, but in general it works good.
If you want to test on the REF080A you can use the dashboard to detect the BER on which you come to the server

Yesterday evening I talked to Francesco IK8JHL on the REF080A D-STAR reflector at least half an hour. He said no interruption has heard me perfectly. My transceiver is IC ID-51 Plus 2 and Openspot firmware beta 0130. See my picture and BER%.

Do you have any results? I saw you did some tests on the REF080A. Your BER loss was showed 0.0% on dashboard. Have you got any interruptions report on REF080A?

But, working both dvmega or zumspot at the same time SharkRF rf interrupts often or continuously, the others not!
SharkRF Is perfect and stable on the others modes dmr and c4fm .Mine Is not a single opinion , I’m reporting the general impressions of my dstar SharkRF working group . Now I’ll check deeply the other reflectors for some other feedback..

Hi everyone! For supporting IS0AGA I also have this problem and maybe other twenty OM in Italy that I know..
I try to explain about the italian national network on D-Star.
Maybe only in Italy we have different XLX connected together creating a complete network around all our country ( http://vpngrf.webandcloud.net/db/dashboard/index.php?show=peers ).
The problem appears only in this network and not to other simple Reflector, like REF080 or REF001 and it does not depend on different internet connections (3G/4G, ADSL, Fiber).
When it happens you must only switch off and try later.
I Tried to connect at the same XLX to the other guys in QSO, but nothing changed and the problem is only during listening.
In any case I'm satisfied about openspot, but for this problem I was obliged to buy a Dvmega to use it in Dstar.

I checked the XLX001A reflector that IS0AGA reported to be interrupted by Openspot. There was nothing wrong with me. I also checked the XLX077A reflector and there was no problem either. I note that there is a big difference between IS0AGA published dejitter queue graph and mine.

Thank You, but XLX001 it's not connected to our network. Please follow the link to find the correct XLX, also the Module A is rarely used and only for international QSO. Usually the module B is used to national QSO to all our country.
In any case the problem is unexpected and randomized, there is no apparent reason. I assure you that we've lost several hours to try different settings and connections but we did not find any explanation.

First time IS0AGA posted a screenshot about XLX001A reflector. Ok, we'll monitoring XLX077 B reflector for a longer time but probably the server has internet connection issues sometimes. It's strange that one moment Openspot does work well in the other doesn't. I am listening JA0POR station from Japan now he is speaking in Italian. He uses Openspot also. No interruptions at the moment on my side.

I was monitoring the XLX077 module B reflector for 1 day. I've never experienced the problem on my side you've been talking about. I don't think this problem is caused by Openspot. In this case the problem would be immediately visible on every XLX reflector not only on XLX077.

The problem does not happen always with the same dynamics and on the same XLX, but it happens only with our XLX italian network and only with OpenSpot.
For this reason we had open this discussion, no one wants to blame you but we would like to understand why it happens and if there is a possible solution.

Tonight I heard your conversations on the reflector. We'll review the bug again.
Let's examine what protocols the hosts are using. What kind of hotspot did you use? The dashboard showed you used the DExtra protocol. Which software version is running on the server?

Hi all,

I resume this very old interesting post, in order to report that after "6 years" and 4th generation of openSPOT produced the same issue is still present with openSPOT 4 on several reflector like DCS039Q, DCS439Q etc..
As in the past the problem doesn't happen on mmdvm hotspots.

Hello, don‘t know if it helps.

In Austria we faced a problem on the DCS009 and the OpenSpot with short interruptions. It looks like the problem occurs with the bridges to DMR etc.
The interruptions are not present on other hotspot hardware at the same time on the same Internet connection. After cancelling this bridges the interruptions on the OpenSpot are gone. They responsible OMs working on the problem, but the bridges are already cancelled due this problem.

So it seems that the OpenSpot is sensible in a certain environment and only the OpenSpot.
So maybe the technicians of the OpenSpot could investigate this problem.
