Why is it when you want to hook up to the iPhone hotspot you have to physically have the personal hotspot screen open so that the openspot will Connect. In my experience any hotspot whether it be the openspot or zumspot, if you lose your wifi connection and you want to use your iPhone or iPad, to Connect to the personal hotspot you have to open the personal hotspot screen in settings and keep it open until the open spot connects. Is there a way around this, looking for suggestions if anyone else has had this issue. I do know that if you have the hotspot on, a MacBook pro will see the Wifi on the iPhone but the openspot or a Zumspot will not. Now understand as long as you have the iPhone or iPads personal hotspot screen up where you can see it and its on the openspot will connect. There are more people with this same problem that would like to know if this can be resolved.

This is a limitation of the iPhone. It only broadcasts it's hotspot network if the personal hotspot screen is open.

I am trying to connect my iphone with Kenwood TH74 and the radio says that the "connection to blue tooth failed. I have the Hotspot screen open when I am trying to do this.
Don't know what to do next.

The iPhone personal hotspot is for sharing the iPhone's internet connection with Wi-Fi clients. The Kenwood radio does not have built-in Wi-Fi so it won't work this way.

Why does my iphone see the Kenwood TH D74 on its blue tooth screen?

Well, we were talking about internet connection sharing previously. I don't know if you can connect your iPhone to your Kenwood radio. Ask your Kenwood dealer about this.
