In the wish list for a future update (which I would love it to be asap) would be the full support for Wires-X capability as there is in other popular hotspots.
HA5OGR
Which kind of other popular hotspot able to connect directly to Wires-X network?

Hi there,
I have a jumbospot that accepts the Wires-X command and once connected I can use the available list of reflectors to navigate directly from the radio. For C4FM I use a Yaesu FT-2DR.

This has nothing to do with the Wires-X network. Support for the Wires-X button in the OS2 will be added in a later firmware upgrade.

That is great to know.

Having just got on the C4FM bandwagon, I heard some of the pi based hotspots emulated some of the wires functionality by listing room names and such on the radio. Glad to see this is on the update radar.

As I wrote earlier, support for the Wires-X button in the OS2 will be added in a later firmware upgrade.

Many promises.... In 2016 There was already pledged that there was VW for the C4FM modem. I'm talking about the first version. Now version 2 There is we can forget it I think. I now work with a Yaesu FT-70DE.

What do you mean by WM?
We never announced that there will be Wires-X button support for the openSPOT1, we just mentioned that we plan to do it. We did not have time for that, but now the openSPOT2 will get the functionality. We are already working on it.

I just want to say THANKS for a great product and continuing support and improvements.

Great product, great support.

Now that Yaesu does NOT require the HRI-200 in order to establish a WIRES-X node, will SharkRF be able to add full WIRES-X functionality to the OpenSpot2?

What do you mean by "
will SharkRF be able to add full WIRES-X functionality to the OpenSpot2
"? An HRI-200 is still required if you're linking a repeater into the WIRES-X network. An HRI-200 is also required if you want to establish a room on the WIRES-X network.

What I mean is that Yaesu does NOT require an HRI-200. I have a fully functional WIRES-X node up at my QTH using nothing but a C4FM transceiver connected directly to a computer.
The OpenSpot2 is a C4FM transceiver connected to an onboard computer.
An HRI-200 is still required to HOST a WIRES-X room, but not to connect.

The wiresX system is a Yaesu system. Yaesu doesn't permit cross linking from hotspots to the system directly, although some people have bridged their wiresX rooms to ysf/fcs reflectors.
YSF and FCS are part of a different system. While there is wiresX functionality in the openspot2, it does not connect to the Yaesu wiresX system. Instead, it connects to the YSF or FCS systems. They are on different networks.
There's plenty of traffic on the YSF and FCS systems. Two rooms that are connected to the wiresX system are America Link and America RC. Others, like ohio link and MN WIz are also connected, but don't have the traffic that the first two have.

So I am beating my head against the wall trying to get wires x button to work on Openspot 1 ? My bad I suppose for not knowing its model dependent. Thanks for pointing that out. I don't suppose the openspot 2 is still available except on used market maybe

N4KBR, I am confused. I can only find one server that I can connect to using the wires x button. It is xlc204. I have connector set to ysf and modem to cfdm . Once I make connection to xlc204 that as far as I can make it go. Wonder if you can shed some light on this and what I'm doing wrong. We can take this offline if you want to email me at ke4qdc at gmail dot com
