No matter what screen I keep my iPhone on, I can not get the openSPOT2 to connect to my iPhone unless I power off my iPhone and turn it back on, then the connections works asap.
Anyone else have this problem?

I did have the same issue and opened a post about it.
Please check it here:

I have not yet tried the solutions proposed but if nothing else works, I will certainly reboot mine as you did.

I have tried everything on that thread.
Please let me know your results once you power cycle your phone.
Thanks

Maybe there's a power saving setting on the iPhone which turns off it's Wi-Fi hotspot after a while?

It’s the initial connection process I’m having an issue with. Once I get it to connect, it stays connected fine.

I think I found the right procedure for the Iphone connection to the OS2.
Iphone usually sends the "beacon" to establish connection with another device for a limited time only. That aims to save on battery.
So, what worked out for me was the following and in this order:
1- Turn-off the OS2
2- Turn-on the router on the Iphone (personal access)
3 - Immediately after, turn-on the OS2
The two expected messages were heard:
Profile 1 ready
Openspot connected to xxxxx
The whole thing took no longer than 15 seconds.
As previously said, It is essential in any wifi connection to have exactly the same SSID and Password on both units. For the Iphone I just made it simpler, identified it as Eduardo, instead of Eduardo's Iphone.
Good luck,

What happens if you leave the OS2 powered on all time and just reboot your phone?

iPhone Powered Off
Openspot2 Powered On
Openspot2 flashing Blue
Openspot2 turns Red and TX's "Trying to connect to wifi network"
Openspot2 flashes Blue
iPhone Powered On
Hotspot turned on
Openspot2 connects and turns green

So I performed a network reset on my iPhone by going to;
Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings
Now the OpenSPOT2 is connecting to my iPhone as it should.
It’s connecting wether the iPhone is powered on first or second. I can shut WiFi hotspot off and on and the openspot is connecting with no issues.
I will report back after playing with it a few days.
Let me know if this helps you!
FYI, when you reset your iphones network settings, it defaults your phones name (WiFi name) back to IPHONE. So make sure you rename it to what you had it set to before, or your Openspot will not find your WiFi

Good to know.
Enjoy your product.

Well, three days have passed, went into the car and the Openspot connected on the first try. I shut the Hotspot off on the iPhone and turned it back on a minute later, and the Openspot connected right back up. Feeling Good !!
