Hi group,
I have the OpenSpot 2 configured for both D-Star and DMR in Australia.
When using DMR I an unable to monitor a Talk Group, no audio, without first keying up my handheld. I know some TG's and repeaters require a user to key up first to trigger the link, however when I operate a local repeater using the same TG the audio is always relayed.
Is there any settings I need to make on the dongle, or is it a feature of the Radio (MD-380) or a restriction of DMR itself?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

The talkgroups that you can hear without keying up on a repeater are the ones that the repeater operator has set as static. All other talkgroups required keying up to actavate and are called dynamic and stay active for 15 min after the last time you key it.
Essentially the talk groups on the Openspot 2 are dynamic to start. You have to key them up with your radio or with the web interface to hear them. It is a little more complicated than that but that should get you going in the right direction. For instance there are ways to set talkgroups as static on the Openspot 2.
You perhaps need to read the online manual.

Hi Hank, Norbert,
I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post.
I guess there is a big difference between reading and understanding.. A a new user I have found the concepts of DMR in it's many forms a challenge, that said I am making progress with help from people like yourselves.
I will configure as documented and test further.
Thanks again,
Phil

In short: you need to have a talkgroup linked in order to hear it. The BrandMeister Network has a feature called auto static talkgroups, which makes using talkgroups much easier with hotspots. You can find more about auto static talkgroups on the user manual page I've linked.

Hello
my advanced age (84 y) does not allow me to understand the installation of openspot2.i have configure and install my codeplug except TG 9 I do not know the frequency on DMR / homebrew / MMDVM how often and in road cross fashion ? You say linked TG 9 but how
Thank you
HA2NON
The openSPOT2's default frequency is 433.900 MHz. Set up your radio's RX and TX frequencies for that. Make sure you link the talkgroup you want to hear.
F4EIT
thank you for your answer but explain me how to act to bind the TG 9 to all the TG that I installed on my codeplug and my Anytone post because I do not know how to do
Thank you

Create a Receive Group List and add TG9 to that list. Then attach the group list to all channels used with the openspot.

Hello
you do not understand me I am asking you what are the maneuvers for and OR create the list of reception groups how and OR attach the list to openspot2
should i go into the codeplug on zone then local and add all the tg list that is on my radio?
W5hj
There should be a place in your CPS for your radio to create and name a receive group list. Put TG 9 in this list. I named mine OS.
Then there is a place when you create channels for your Openspot that you then can put the so named receive group list. You do this for all Openspot channels.
Finally create a zone named Openspot , which is a really just a memory bank, and put all Openspot channels in it.

A receive group list is a list of talkgroups other than the talkgroup the channel is programmed to transmit on that you would want to receive.

Sorry NORBERT I did not see page 2
For GEORGE if I understand correctly I go in my codeplug on channel I register TG9 with frequency 433.9000 then in zone I create an area where I register TG9 and place in all the TG that I programmed with their frequency then I go in Talkgroups I create TG9 I WRITE on my radio and it does not work
F4EIT
I went in codrplug I changed all the frequencies of the channel TG I write to my radio now when I press PTT on all the TG I have the bar of emission which is displayed on the radio but I have neither RECEPTION nor EMISSION on Brandemeister.
WHAT TO DO?
Thank you
HA2NON
Have you set the TX contact in your radio to the talkgroup you want to talk on with a group call?
F4EIT
I transmit on brandmeister but I still have no RECEPTION
