I got my OpenSpot 2 a few weeks ago, but today is the first day have done anything with it. I was able to upgrade the firmware, but when I try to upgrade the Data/Callsign Database it apparently fails. Does anybody have any ideas what I should do to fix this issue?
Perhaps I am overthinking this, however. Is it possible that it will update overnight on its own?
HA2NON
It will automatically update everything.
Jim1348
It still displays:
Data upgrade available!
Available upgrades
Data / callsign database:
201904080908
(stable version, 3.69 MB)
When I try it displays:
Downloading callsign database... (0%)
Then I get this:
Callsign database upgrade download failed
Does anybody here know what else I should try?

What does the device log show on the Status page?

I did a factory reset and now I can't even connect to it. I have tried on a smartphone, tablet and laptop computer.

The log you've inserted does not contain any information about the download process. Look for lines starting with "httpcln:"
What LED color do you see on the device?
HA2NON
While the openSPOT2 is in AP mode, it can't reach the internet. It only broadcasts it's own Wi-Fi network called "openSPOT2 AP" for the initialization setup.

Jim1348
It won't stay connected in the AP mode.
HA2NON
Please place close the openSPOT2 to your browser device while the openSPOT2 is in AP mode (indicated by white LED). Also you can try using another browser, or another browser device to set it up.
Jim1348
Yes, I have tried those things, too, but it still won't stay connected in the AP mode.
A few days ago it did stay connected in the AP mode, I got it configured and then connected to wifi and updated the firmware. Now, it will go into the AP mode, but won't stay connected long enough to even configure it.
I have the Open Spot2 very close to the computer. I have tried several different computers, a tablet and even my smartphone.
I watch the wifi display. It will show connected, then lose the connection and say connecting. Some component must be defective in my device.
HA2NON
Does your browser device reconnect after disconnecting? Is the openSPOT2's LED pulsating white all the time, or does it become steady white when your browser device connects?
Jim1348
The browser devices switches between connected and reconnecting. The openSPOT2's LED pulsates white all the time.
HA2NON
Something is not right with the connection then, as the openSPOT2's LED should be steady white when a device is connected to the "openSPOT2 AP" Wi-Fi network.

Email sent. Thank you very much for the help. I do appreciate it!

I've got the same problem with upgrade. I have had an upgrade go through for the call sign database one time. Since then I get to round the 90% point and the upgrade fails.

I get an orange star error color. This has occurred several times so it is not just a blimp in my ISP connection at time of download. Think maybe they are packet filtering my supposed "unlimited" data account?

Never mind on previous post about dl'ing. Realized that my problems sounded like server issues, so I decided to try another, less-used USA connection server and success! Should have trusted my original instincts that the log looked like CRC errors from the old days.

There was DDOS hacker attacked the Brandmeister network around the world and administrators turned off servers for a shorter period of time all over the world.
