Hello,
I am a new Openspot user and a new user to digital amateur radio. in reading various sources re: DMR, I noted on the radioid site where I registered and otained my radio id, that I did not need to get a radio ID for hot spots. It mentions adding 01 to the end of my radio id rather than requesting a radio ID for the hot spot. I haven't tried this yet, but for now, I have entered my radio ID as radio ID with 01 at the end.
I'm slightly confused though, and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right which is why I'm not transmitting right away until I get confirmation. HOw does the openspot handle DMR radio IDS? Will, once I transmit, the OS2 send my radio ID out or anyone else's? How would adding the 01 at the end help? Or do I need to apply for a new ID for the OS2? Any help or resource that you can point me to to read would be greatly appreciated.

You need a DMR ID to use DMR networks. What you are referring to is the SSID, which is useful if you have multiple hotspots. You can append an SSID (01, 02, 03 etc.) to your DMR ID and use that for each hotspot. If you have only one hotspot then you don't need to append an SSID to your DMR ID.
DMR calls contain caller ID information which is automatically inserted into the stream by your radio.
