Hello: I have a total of 5 Openspots, two of them being the OS2. Therefore, its obvious, I like the device. My most recent purchase, the OpenSpot2 has given me problems from day one. One issue I caused was an IP Address conflict but I got that resolved quickly.
The symptoms are:
red/blue LED 0.5 second flashing. Every 30 seconds fast red LED for 3-4 seconds.
Pinging the device drops when this happens from a local box.
Embedded web interface is not reachable.
After a power up, it might work for a short period, usually less than a minute then goes into this loop again.
Thanks to Norb, I found that you can connect the OS2 to a USB port and connect a terminal emulator to it like Putty. This allows you to the the activity log when you cannot connect via the browser. This did not reveal anything relevant but its still cool.
I put my other OS2 on the same reflector, same USB power source (it was a high capacity unit), same location, same wifi, different RF frequency. Same Firmware versions. The newer OS2 had the same symptoms. Norb suggested I upgrade to the Beta V48 which I did. Again, same problem.
After some going back and forth and me being convinced the hardware was faulty and requesting a replacement or refund, I found the root cause.
The USB cable from power supply to OS2 was fauly. I replace the cable and no more issues.
I thought I had changed the cables early in the troubleshooting but obviously did not. Its been 48 hours and no more issues.
I hope this helps someone.
Kevin.

Follow-up:
I am still pretty sure I can a cable issue but as you can see from another post about not being able to access the web interface, I am having trouble with two OS2's.
I don't think its the hardware, it probably my test methodology.
