I have 3 memory banks on an ID-5100 programed as follows for use with Shark Openspot 2.
Your Callsign Rpt-1 CallSign Rpt-2 CallSign
WB7DZG C
REF001 C
CQCQCQ
The first is a local repeater, the second a reflector, and the third to transmit on the reflector. To transmit on the repeater I use WB7DZG C in the urcall field. I can connect to both the repeater and reflector by keying up on the memory bank with the call sign in, or via the shark.link web page.
I can connect to both the reflector and repeater and remain connected for hours and hear all transmissions. I cannot transmit, or if I am transmitting no-one is hearing me. The WB7DZG repeater has a net each Saturday for testing purposes and I have confirmed I am not heard using the Shark. I am heard on RF or via a DVAP.
I guess I have something set wrong, but rereading the manual isn't helping. I guess I need a diagram with the settings shown. What am I doing wrong.
Thanks.

Sorry didn't say in my OP that I am using DStar.

If you are connected to the reflector then you have to set the urcall to CQCQCQ. First test the connection between your transceiver and the OS2 with the built-in local echo feature. Do you hear yourself back correctly? Do your calls show up in the call log on the Status page?

Using the echo function my calls show up in the call log. However the test does not play back properly. If I count 1 to 7 the play back starts at 5. I have tried leaving a pause (different lengths) before speaking, but the play back always starts at 5.

A recent comment somewhere on this forum said that the OS2 only has enough storage for a few seconds of local echo recording in DSTAR mode, so you only hear the last part of your transmission. Try only saying 1-2-3 or 1-2...

Tyrbiter thank you, that indeed was causing the truncation on echo. Count 1 - 3 come back clear and correct.
