What is the beaconing interval for the APRS connector? Is it configurable?

In looking at my beacons from the OS2 it is every hour. I dont believe there is a configurable setting.

It is fixed at 1 hour. This update interval guarantees that the openSPOT location will be always shown on the APRS map.

That's a pretty large difference from the generally accepted interval recommendations of 3-10 minutes (depending on the source). The shorter interval conforms with recommendations to mitigate system congestion and there's no RF congestion issues with the OS units anyway since they are IP devices.
Maybe Shark should consider making the interval configurable with a more useful range and also include "smart beaconing". Even if added only to the OS3 feature set, I'd move up from my three OS2 units in the blink of an eye!!!

Where did you read about the 3-10 minutes recommendation?

Is there a slight misunderstanding in the discussion here?
It is my understanding that OpenSpot2 sends the coordinates entered in the "Location settings menu", it does not have its own GPS and only send this info each hour or so.
You can also have the OS2 send the GPS positions of your
RADIO
, but this it only does if you transmit more than a few seconds. This will forward the location and SSID of your RADIO and you might therefore see two different locations on for instance Aprs.fi, your OS2, and that of your radio each with its own symbol if desired.
The recommendation for the intervall for location forwarding and use of smart beaconing is for moving stations and I suppose not easily implemented in the OS2 since there is no communication from the radio to the OS2 unless you manually transmit.
I might be wrong of course

I think the confusion may be caused by the manual reference to "enable in background" for the connector. That implies there is a beaconing function, but rather it is operating as you say…only during a user activated transmission.
