Using the DMR Phoenix network
M0UTC
Hi, I am trying to program my TYT MD 380 so that I can access the Phoenix network here in the UK on DMR. I have read all the info on websites referring to reflectors and talkgroups etc. but I am unsure just exactly what I have to program into my radio codeplug. I have got everything working fine using the Brandmeister network via my Openspot but this is really got me stuck ! I see that the reflectors can be set from the drop down menu after selecting the Phoenix-F server but it what to do after that has got me stumped. Any info gratefully received

You have to send your calls to TG9 if you are using reflectors. You can find some more information in the user manual at
http://manuals.sharkrf.com/openspot2/en/dmr-usage-notes.html

Thanks for that, so in practice I need one channel programmed on my radio with the reflector number set to private, 4402 for example, then I need to switch channel to one programmed with TG9 set as a group call in order to talk through the reflector?

Yes, but you only need to set up 1 channel for TG9, as you can do private calls using the contacts menu or manual dial on your radio.

Thanks for your help Norbert, I found out what the main problem was, the information on the opendmr.net website showing the connector configuration for the Openspot is incorrect !! It says to use the DMR Plus / dongle protocol, I found out after much research that it was changed last year to the MMDVM protocol. I thought that the choice of protocol on the dashboard just determined the choice of available servers to connect to eg. Brandmeister or DMR Plus / Phoenix etc. but it obviously does more than that. Still I have learned a lot more about DMR radio over the last few days so all is good
Once again thanks for your excellent support and a great piece of equipment.
