I am using openspot2 tied to DMR through home-brew and connected to TG3100. I have had good calls w/ others, and sometimes can hear both sides of other calls. However I get many indications of activity on the TG, w/ DMR ID decoded, but either a glitch and then no audio, or no audio at all. a typical log looks like this:
To: BM US Nationwide Bridge (3100)
From: KE8ODN Jason H (3164829, United States)
Group DMR voice call from net
End: 15:38:22 (00:00.4s B0% L0%)
You can see only 0.4s received, many are just 0.2s, and no audio. Any ideas?

Sometimes people just key up for no reason, others key up if they are on a repeater that has that TG as a PTT TG and not static.

Yeah I thought of that but in some cases I can see the call log showing an interchange between two parties and all I'm getting on the radio is the active TG/DMR ID but no audio.

Try disabling in-band data, which is disabled by default (Settings page, DMR Settings section, "Send no in-band data to modem" setting). This can cause the symptom you've described on a transceiver which can't handle received talker alias correctly.
KD2RWV
I disabled Send no in-band data to modem and saw no difference in performance.
I noted that calls flagged (talker alias) seem to be received, ID DMR ID and TG, and I get audio:
Group DMR voice call from net
End: 19:35:59 (00:05.9s B0% L0%)
(talker alias)
While calls thet are not flagged (talker alias) seem to be received, ID DMR ID and TG, but are cut short and I get no meaningful audio:
Group DMR voice call from net
End: 19:51:04 (00:01.1s B0% L0%)

That's not universal, however, I do see some (talker alias) entries in the log where the calls are cut short and audio does not get through.
I also noted that sometimes I get the same call sign in the log w/ (talker alias) noted in one entry, but not in another entry.

Make sure the talkgroup you want to hear is set as the TX contact for your transceiver's current channel (or make sure the talkgroup is in an RX group list which is assigned to the current channel of your transceiver).
Also make sure the OS2's TX power is set to 100%. If it still does not work, switch frequencies both in your transceiver and the OS2.

I think the TX and RX settings on my radio are fine b/c I do receive some conversations just fine and have made contacts just fine myself. I've also been able to operate well with the openspot and made contacts with it while a couple hundred meters from the hotspot, and have operated w/ it at full and about 0dBm power). So I don't think transmit power is the issue either (unless perhaps it's too high and overdriving the radio?).
