Hi All, I wonder if anyone can give me a some tips on how to use the Quick Call feature on the OS2 using the Brandmeister talkgroups. When I use my Retevis RT82 with my OS1, I can key in a talkgroup in the Quick Call box on the dashboard and I can hear the qso on that tg even if it is not programmed in the code plug for the radio, the talkgroup number does show up on the radio display.
Using an Alinco DJ-MD5 with my Openspot2, when I enter the tg number into the dashboard on the OS2, the Openspot connects and I can see it on the status page, the receive indicator lights on the radio but I hear nothing, it's probably something to do with the settings on the radio/codeplug but I am not sure what to change as I do not want to mess up my codeplug so far.
To take this further, is it possible to talk on the talkgroup connected to using the Quick Call even if the talkgroup is not programmed into my radio, it would seem odd having the convenience of the OS2 Quick Call feature and then have to manually enter the talkgroup info using the keyboard on the radio, even more difficult if I was using my Hytera PD365 as it doesn't have a numeric keypad !!
All info gratefully received.

DMR transceivers usually only open the squelch for an incoming call if:
- The call is a private call and it's destination ID matches your transceiver's ID
- The call is a group call and it's destination ID matches the TX contact of the current channel
- The call is a group call and it's destination ID matches one of the IDs of the RX group list which is assigned to the current channel
Make sure you have the desired talkgroup IDs in an RX group list, and assign this list to the currently used channel in your transceiver.

Thanks for your reply Norbert, the interesting thing is that using my Retevis RT 82 and the Openspot1 I am definitely able to receive and hear talkgroups not incuded anywhere in the radio codeplug. I am using the last heard feature from the OS dashboard and monitoring the Brandmeister network, even monitoring some of the servers in the US and noting some odd talkgroups not even appearing in the Brandmeister talkgroup list, when I type the numbers into the Quick Call box I can hear them. This has caused my confusion as I agree with your comments in your previous post. Perhaps I have found a useful feature in the RT 82 that enables me to listen to any talkgroup, whether it is programmed into the radio or not !! Ah well, I will do some experimentation to try and find out what is going on.
Many Thanks,
Paul

Some radios have promiscuous mode - if it's enabled, then it will open the squelch for any incoming call.

Thanks for the tip Norbert and yes, that is what is happening, on the Retevis it is called "Group Call Match" and is set either on the radio or in the codeplug. On the Alinco I can now hear all talkgroups by switching on what Alinco call "Digital Monitor" in the code plug software or "Digi Moni" on the radio utilities settings.
They say you learn something every day, that couldn't be more true in the world of DMR !!
