Can't connect to OpenSPOT2 using SharkRF.link
gregflanagan
OpenSpot2 is not connecting when I run sharkrf.link on my Windows 10 PC, tried my desktop and Microsoft Surface. It shows "connecting" but then
comes up with the following screen:
______________________________________________
Hmmm… can't reach this page192.168.40.85 took too long to respond
Try:
Search the web for 192 168 40 85
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
______________________________________________
My OpenSPOT2 has a green light so I'm assuming it's connected to the network and I can make a contact going through it but I cant get in to access the settings. The UID code is correct.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Please check your browser settings. The IP address 192.168.40.85 is Openspot 2. If JavaScript option is not enabled then SharkRF.link will not load.

Thanks for the quick response. I checked JavaScript as directed on my Windows 10 PC and my android Not1 10 and I get the same message with Edge & Chrome that JavaScript is on.
I can't look at the OpenSPOT2 Status page because I can't get there
Just an FYI my OpenSPOT3 works fine and passes right through without issues on the PC and the Samsung Note 10 phone
Thanks

Please upgrade the device firmware manually.
You can find the manual upgrade instructions in the user manual:

("I want to manually upgrade the firmware" section)

JavaScript is on. I can't get to the menu that it shows on the suggested page for the firmware update. Sharkrf.Link just does not connect. It show's connecting then "Hmmm… can't reach this page192.168.40.85 took too long to respond
Try: Search the web for 192 168 40 85"
I figured if I started from the beginning it would look for the most current firmware as part of the process. I reset the Openspot2, button down for 30 seconds until it goes off. Went to my android phone and the Openspot2 showed in my available networks, I selected the Openspot2, entered the key, it connected ok and I have alternating green & yellow lights. , Everything looks fine but it will not run Sharkrf.Link so I'm assuming it didn't do the firmware update.
Is there a way to manually force a firmware update? for some reason that IP address isn't working. My OpenSPOT3 pops right up and works flawlessly
It's frustrating but I'm willing to try anything
Thanks

Openspot2 is fine but I have a question on firmware updates for my OpenSpot3. My last firmware upgrade was to V48 in 12/2020. Every time I open the application I tell it to update and it tries then cycles back in 10 seconds in a loop until I cancel it. I leave the device on and connected for 24 hours and it doesn't connect as set in the firmware update option to automatically happen at 0400. Could this be a similar issue to what was happening on the OpenSpot 2? If that's the case and I do the manual upgrade will I loose all of my settings?
Thanks

You won't lose your settings when you upgrade the firmware. You can find the OS3 upgrade instructions in it's user manual (also on the Troubleshooting page).
