Newer Manual Firmware Version

I have been trying to get my open spot 3 to work for the last 4 weeks, i was told to do a manual firmware update but when I do that and try to connect to the openspot3 I get this message:

Error
Your openSPOT3's firmware version is too old. Please manually upgrade the firmware by following the instructions in the user manual.

Go there and its still the same one, surf-osb-1.0-...bin.cpgz anyone know where i can down load a newer version ????

Thanks for the reply BUT, its the same version I have download 20 times and still no change , my OpenSot keeps saying " YOUR OPENSPOT3'S FIRMWARE VERSION IS TOO OLD. PLEASE MANUALLY UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE BY FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE USER MANUAL." I have clicked on the location where you have circled and get the same message. I have tried with a iMac running Mac OS High Sierra and I have also tried on a Windows laptop. This the file that I get when I down load, srf-osb-1.0-0057.bin, so is that the newest firmware or not, my openspot3 says its too OLD

The v57 firmware currently is the latest. Please explain the procedure how you do update the Openspot firmware.

I update the Openspot firmware per your previous instructions on the OpenSpot web page. Also when I can see the OpenSpot Information page it does not show any of the hardware or Firmware version. Right now it just sits here flashing green and amber and when I try to connect I get the "YOUR OPENSPOT FIRMWARE IS TOO OLD" I would be more than happy to ship this unit to you and have you look at it, As expensive as it is I would really like to use it.

Green/orange LED means you have either Autocal or Null connector selected.

The message sounds like you have a browser cache issue, suggest you flush the cache using F5 and see what you see then.

Another thought, are you using the sharkrf.link method for connecting to your OS3? If there is a break in connectivity for some reason it could be that SharkRF's server is returning an error due to out of date information being cached.

Tyrbiter, i have typed what i have done so much that here is the short story
1. 20 times i have done the manual firmware on a iMac with the most current OS.
2. 10 times i have done the manual firmware on a Windows laptop with current Microsoft OS.
3. When I try to connect to the openSPOT3 the response I get back is "YOUR OPENSPOT FIRMWARE IS TOO OLD" , using both the mobile sharkRF.link and the 192.xxxxx
4. Green/orange LED, Autocal or Null connector selected, yes thats what that means but I cant get into the oOpenSOT3 because SEE #3.
5. No connectivity problem, I have fiber internet with 750 MBS.
6. I would be more than happy to pay the shipping to ship this unit back to SharkRF and see if they could get it back on line as these units are not cheap but so far SharkRF is not taking me up one the deal.
7. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, all of this problem started after the last firmware update that came out.....

As you have an IP address of 192.168.99.1 that means that you are connecting to the openSPOT3's internal WiFi access point, in this condition it is not possible to see the status page.

You can only see the status page once the openSPOT3 is connected to your defined WiFi network, not the internal AP.

You can change mode by pressing the WiFi button for 3 seconds. You then need to know the correct IP address to connect to, you should be able to see this via your router's DHCP configuration page.

Ok, i tried that again for the 50th time, so here is what happens. press wifi for 3 seconds and you are now in the AP mode, the openSPOT3's default mode of operation if no Wi-Fi networks have been configured. Press again for 3 seconds and we are back to the flashing green and amber. Have you ever heard the old saying " You cant get there from here" thats pretty much were I am at. Would be real helpful if the people at SharfRF would let me send the unit to them but as i have said before, they are not interested. Matter of fact follow the thread on this post of mine and you will see several times they reply with the same answer as if they do not read what i am trying to tell them. I have configured the OpenSPOPT3 with my home wifi at least 30 times, more than 40 times on the manual up date and nothing is helping. My last thought is to pry the case open and disconnect the battery and leave it for a day just to see if it might have something corrupted in a file that stays while the unit has power. Last idea is to throw it away and not buy another one, shame, really liked it but the Customer service is a little no existence . Thanks for your suggestion Tyrbiter.

Green/yellow LED means that your openSPOT3 is connected to your Wi-Fi network. If sharkrf.link does not work then use http://openspot3.local/ or http://openspot3/ to open the web interface, or if these do not work, look up the OS3's IP address assigned by your router on the router's web interface. It is usually listed on the DHCP clients (or similarly called) page.

Please take the screenshot again after you've opened the web interface and the status info is visible.

Finally got it. Problem in email instructions to me about running manual firmware upgrade. You say page-top. I wasn’t scrolling down so all I was ever seeing was the video with the music."

This from an OS2 user who is now up and running. It appears you are not getting the OS3 into bootloader mode and putting the firmware file from the download link in the right place. The firmware too old message is from the sharkrf.link server, your unit ID is reaching the server, it says you need newer firmware.

For the manual update you need to follow the instructions at:

and then scroll down to:

I want to manually upgrade the firmware

and download this file:

and follow the further instructions.

Suggestion to SharkRF, add an anchor link to this section of the troubleshooting page in the manual, it seems to cause a lot of confusion.

Its working !!!! I followed HA2NON » suggestion to use http://openspot3.local/ or http://openspot3/ to open the web interface, as soon as I did that i was able to connect back to the OpenSPOT3 and its working perfectly. Thanks to all and especially HA2NON
