I am convinced I have the OpenSPOT 2 from Hell. Everything I try doesn't work. I do IT networking for a living and can't get a hobby device going. I guess I need to turn my certs back in? I have tried to do the manual firmware update by holding reset button and plugging in to a PC releasing the button and seeing bootloader. I have let it set and blink yellow for 30 minutes no help. Ok I tried on my Windows PC. At least It gives me CGnm-1E98-5G, CGNM-D8D8, CGNM-1#98 also ARRIS-5C82 as access points. I know that is coming from the Openspot because when I unplug it they leave.
Honestly I have hooked up Cisco Routers, Switches, Ubiquity equipment, taken Apple, Microsoft, Cisco, and Comptia certs never had this much trouble. Not trying to brag but trying to say this isn't my first time around on setting up equipment. I also maintain 100,000 Watt FM stations. Oh I guess I will add in my Amateur Extra Ive had since 1967 when in Junior High. So what is it about this little Openspot 2. I would have thrown it away and bought another I hate to give into defeat. Plus there is plenty of stuff in the landfill already.

Forgot I can't get into the bloody Web Interface. Because I can't get to Openspot 2 app to set the bloody thing up. The YouTube boys haven't seen this issue. Of course theirs wouldn't dare blink the dreaded red/amber.

Try pressing the button for 3 seconds until the OS2 is flashing a white LED and then connect to 192.168.99.1

Hi Brian:
I tried that it never does flash white. Timed out on the address. I had this in bootloader mode all day. It was blinking yellow. As soon as I took it out of bootloader and plugged back in immediately when to flashing Red/amber. Those Wifi devices I listed above are back as well.

Norbert I’ve done that. It will not do that! I ran it all night the boot loader never rebooted. Right now it is flashing red. It will do that all day I’m sure. Do I try to get to the boot loader again what? If I power it off battery it flashes just red. If I plug it into my mac it flashes red/amber. After about 5 minutes it’s flashing just red.

When I go to the manual and want to do setup. I’m stuck at the first step mine never gets to pulsating white. It’s pulsating red. Now the 64,000 dollar question. How do I get it to wher it will pulsate red? I never can get to web browser mode. Ok Norbert told me to force manual firmware upgrade. I go to his link watch the video no instructions, audio. Stuck again can’t get to its webpage. Ok I unplug hold reset in plug it into usb release my hold on reset. Boot loader shows up it pulses yellow. I can let it run 1 hour 1 day. 3 days it never reboots. Does that explain my issue better. When I go look in my network to see what’s showing I see those three web devices listed. If I unplug the openspot2 they disappear so tells me they are in the openspot2 not in my neighborhood. You can select one click on it prompts you for a password. But don’t know what the password. Oh, went back and check got this January 2020. This was the same thing it did when I received it. I tried to get it to go for a month. Ran out of time put it in a drawer. Only got it out because I have a trip to Chicago coming end of month wanted to take it mobile then. So I guess it will go back in the drawer or recycle bin. I hate I bought this and have never got any use out of it. Right now it’s still pulsating red. Been doing that for 20 minutes.
Ok it’s now 0250 hrs. CST. I decided to try bootloader again on my Mac. I held the reset button while I plugged into to my Mac. Release the button Boot Loader appeared. Was pulsating yellow. Did that for 3 minutes bootloader was there. After 3 minutes it started pulsing between red/amber and bootloader disappeared. That’s were it’s been since 0250 it’s now 0254.

PROBLEM SOLVED:
Finally got it. Problem in email instructions to me about running manual firmware upgrade. You say page-top. I wasn’t scrolling down so all I was ever seeing was the video with the music. Also I went back to my old instructions I had filed for doing a manual firmware up date for the Openspot 1 and read there about having to down load a file. My thinking was the Bootloader would go to the internet on its own and download the needed file. Once I downloaded the bin file and dropped it on the boot loader on the desktop it started working.
As a Radio Tech in the Air Force years ago, Broadcast Engineer and an IT tech I have learned not to take anything for granted not to go outside the box on my own. In the Air Force we went by Tech Orders we called T.O.s. The were so minute on details they would tell you which specific tool to use. So I have carried that mindset pretty much to all electronic troubleshooting when having instructions. So the instructions said top of page so that is where I was looking didn't think to scroll to the bottom of the page. If I hadn’t found the old Openspot1 instructions I had I would still be spinning my wheels. So suggest in the instructions about doing manual update make sure to tell people scroll down the page and be sure to down load the bin file. The print is so small you miss that line if not looking for the line. So thinks for the help. Now I want to write a profile for DMR and one for D-Star. I have two radios I want to operate DMR when on frequency 434.450 on an Anytone 878 and D-star when on 435.450 When on my Icom ID-51. Can someone point me in the right direction for that?
