Openspot 3 In An Airplane

w7ny

This video demonstrates connection of a digital handheld radio in an airplane using an Openspot 3. The video also discusses the audio interface allowing transmit and receive audio in the aviation headset while still allowing ATC and intercom audio as well as GoPro camera audio.

The Openspot 3 will be the method of connection to the digital network in the flight test.

I’ve used my openSPOT3 mid-flight with airplane Wi-Fi before, and while it's not always stable, it worked well enough for short QSOs. Just keep an eye on the latency since high ping can mess with your audio quality.
