voice announcements

Hello,

I am wondering about the "voice announcements" feature. If I change the active TG from my portable transmitter by sending on the TG I do not hear any connection announcement. I talked to some friends and they also never heard any announcement on DMR. I activate the voice announcement feature in the settings diaolog by activate the "Enabled" button. Try also to activate "Use Server only" and "Shortened BrandMeister announcement" also but nothing heard. I am using DMR with Homebrew on Brandmeister.

I agree, this feature is almost worthless on DMR when using BM.

The voice announcements come across on TG9, and unless you are doing TG forwarding via the device from TG9, you will never hear it.

Works awesome on Fusion, though...

Put TG9 in your radio's RX group list for your openSPOT channel, and then you will hear the call coming to TG9.

Voice announcements are not played automatically on BrandMeister because there is no response from the server on what's happening when you call a talkgroup, so openSPOT does not know whether it's linked to a new TG or just made a call to an already linked one etc.

You can manually request this information by calling openSPOT's connector query DMR ID, which is 9998 by default.

So if I put together a RX group list with JUST TG9 in it, the current sitting TG and 9 will both be heard, correct?

I'm assuming that the status request is a group call to 9998, right?

It can be both a private or a group call, does not matter.
I don't know how your radio handles RX group lists and if it also considers the current channel's TX contact as part of the RX group list, so please try it.

ok so I add a rx list with TG 9 and it works.

1) So I had a further request. Can you add also an voice announcement if a TG will be add with pressing the PTT. Woud be great to hear that a change in the TG would be accepted ...

2) I think it is great to see how fast do you developing the openSpot. Thats's really great. But I think for a lot of people it is difficult to know all the new extensions available. May be local help call up in form of a symbol near a parameter would help. If you are clicking on this symbol or on the parameter text it would be great to get a local help text for this specified parameter. So there would be no need to upgrade the manual for the betas ...

I've had to turn OFF the voice announcements. It works great-- just way too often. If you had the option to let the voice announcement play only once, right after the openSPOT is first booted and first connects to the server, I'd re-enable it.

But when the BM server disconnects momentarily, the voice announcement gets in the way of your QSO. Especially if you have a couple of TG's statically linked and you are on a reflector. The announcements interrupt you for well over 15 seconds while it tells you something you already know. KD4Z, Warren

Recent beta firmware versions have the option "Shortened BrandMeister announcement" that help with this. Doesn't play out all the linked TGs on connect.

At the blue bar at the bottom of every page right side
there is a little hook to click on "Advanced Mode".
Then go to "Settings" and "Voice announcements".
There you find "Shortened BrandMeister announcement"
