Echolink and Allstar and transcode to analog

A Huge selling feature to compete with the clearnode would be adding Allstar, Echolink and the ability to use a analog radio to talk DMR, Fusion and NXDN.
Wouldn't that make the openspot much more valuable? Then add IRLP? Wow!

Hey I just gave you an idea for an openspot 5 so we all can spend another 400 dollars. I only want 100 dollars per openspot sold. Thank you

Personally I think that transcoding analog to digital sounds lousy especially if the analog signal isn’t full quieting. The clear node is using DVSwitch to accomplish this, which I don’t think the oS products are compatible with. Analog and digital don’t belong together. If you can afford an openSPOT you can afford a digital radio of some kind.

Adding AllStar would make this device killer. I just got an openSPOT4 Pro and I would spend another $400 USD tomorrow if it could do AllStar.

This request has come up before but is not technically possible within the confines of hotspot hardware, systems that can do it are more complex and need to synchronise analogue voice (which has no sync indicators) and sample it to convert to a digital format. the openSPOTs have no internal hardware that can do this and the radio chip used cannot produce or demodulate analogue FM signals.

Pretty sure demodulating FM is doable, all you need is some kind of transcoder, which the Pro version has.

However, I also don't think this is a good idea. You never know when some kind of interference hits your frequency and then you start retransmitting garbage.

Several times now have I seen another nearby HAM use the same frequency on his hotspot as I do, thankfully he seems to be using DMR (and the signal is not great) and I'm running C4FM, but if I my hotspot was listening on FM it would just propagate into the network (maybe even to the same one he is using). And when you create a loop like that it's not pretty at all.

Allstar and Echolink would be absolutely HUGE !!!!

I was thinking about a Clearnode which does Allstar, Echolink + DMR and Fusion and not D-Star for some strange reason but it's a bit big and no battery and runs off SD card and it's not ideal for car use because the OS3 os is on the firmware itself and you don't have to shut it down which would be a pain in the ass, if a future Openspot could do all this including D-star it would be absolutely amazing.

The OS3 is what allows me to use my Anytone 878 on D-Star, Fusion and DMR all from the one radio and not having to use my phone to switch channels or modes, I do all this from the radio thanks to the special features of the OS3 this makes it the best hotspot available in my opinion and Allstar would be amazing because it would hopefully encourage People away from these old and highly compressed digi modes which can be really difficult to endure.

The only thing that bugs me with allstar is that I would need a smart phone to change channels don't have to do that with the OS3 on digi modes so if a future Openspot had allstar it would be good if it can change channels from the radio using the special commands that can be programmed into the DMR radio like I do now for the digi modes.

Ok, you are all talking about an openspot 3 and above.
I have an openspot 1, and want to know what can be done with it.
It is already outdated on updates, and I am trying to find out if it can be deprogrogrammed for use on something else.
Or is there in fact a way to get around it age or firmware restirctions?

This would be a great feature. ClearNode has it, but doesn't have the portability that the OpenSpot has. If OpenSpot5 has Allstar and Echolink, I will order 2 even if they are $500 each.
