Hello @HA2NON

The OpenSpot4 has been on a deep sale for a few weeks. In the past for Openspot 1,2,3,4 when that happened, a new model appeared shortly after the sale was done. That's also what most ham radio manufacturer are doing when needing to get rid of current model inventory before a new one comes up.

I am guessing this is no different here and we should see an OpenSpot5 coming up soon. Could you give us a primer on what features to expect for the upcoming model?

Thanks a lot!

Understand the current situation.
And if you had a new product later... what features do you think it would have?

Hello,

I would like to see an M17 cross-over mode

And why not a small oled screen on the housing with some information
the callsign of the transmitting station etc etc

If you are going to stop releasing products, please release the source so we can continue to maintain the hardware that we paid for

n3sam He said nothing about dropping support. And nothing about discontinuing current products.

I'm connecting to the YERS FT5D and I'm using it well.
If it's upgraded more than now, I'd like to have an LED on the screen first.
And I wish I could connect HF and FT8 transceives if possible...
    When is it possible?

    I'm a South Korean call 6K2LFV.. I am in communication with DMR450, D-star REF082 / XRF071, YSF119.
Come and play if you can!

      For openSPOT5,
An OLED screen would be nice to have.
WiFi7 or at least an upgrade to WiFi6E would be nice.

Does anyone know if OpenSpot 5 is planned for release - I don't know whether I should buy OpenSpot 4 or wait for OpenSpot 5? 🫣

HA2NON I know this is old but I read this many times before you have said in the past that there was no plans of anything being released but yet they did release a new device called M1ke and as far as I can see it's no different than the others besides comes with a microphone we don't need that we need the other things fixed

Most companies don't publicly talk about future product plans, at least not until they're 100% sure what the product is going to be, that it will work as expected, that the documentation is ready to go, and (in the case of physical products) that they have the production capacity in place to satisfy the demand once the announcement is made.

Remember that SharkRF is a two-man company. I would be very surprised if they're NOT working on one or two future products, but none of them are "ready enough" to talk about publicly yet. When they're ready to announce something, they will. Until then, it doesn't do anybody any good to keep asking the same questions over and over again, or to insinuate that they were lying when they change from saying "nothing to announce" to saying "here's the M1KE".

FWIW I work for a company which makes both software and hardware products. I've had to deal with every bit of this myself, including customers who find out where I work and try to trick me into talking about products which haven't been announced yet. In my experience, calling it "irritating" is only scratching the surface.

With all that said ... Personally, I wish they were able to continue to provide software upgrades for the older products (the OSP1 in particular). Some of the features in the newer hardware would be really nice in the OSP1, particularly the ability to send logs to a syslog server. BUT, as a software developer I know that there's a limit to how much effort you can continue to make toward older products, especially when it's just one or two people.

Plus I'm sure Norbert wants to spend some time talking on the radio, just like we all do. 😁
