Improvement of Battery Capacity

Hi all,

after some months of use of the openSPOT 4, in my opinion the major criticity of this product is the battery duration. I believe for the next version of the product, that it absolutely necessary to increase the battery capacity. If a new design of the product is 5-8 mm. thicker in thickness in order to contain a more capacity battery I don't believe it will be a big problem.
Now with the current battery you can't do a full day (14 hours) even if there is a little traffic on the connector you chose.

The battery is just perfect. I easily get 9 hours of transmitting and listening and that is more than enough chatting. The complaints like the above are non-constructive, petty and generally baseless. The guys at SharkRF made a PERFECT product. Live with that notion.

Dear Daniel,

I'm very displease you understood my post like a baseless, non-constructive comment. It is only my opinion. Is it possible to express one's opinion or since you say that the product is PERFECT this is not admitted ?
I believe the oS4 is a very good product, but (in my opinion) the ONLY criticity that I found is the battery duration. If you stay out of home for 14 hours a day, like me, as you wrote after 9 hours you have to turn off your handheld.
Nothing more.

Massimo, you are correct everyone could have an opinion no matter how petty, baseless and non-constructive. I sincerely doubt that you are on 14 hours a day equally transmitting and receiving. Generally speaking these guys from Estonia have made for 99.9 % of us a perfect hotspot, yes perfect, even though they advertised 30 hours with a caveat.

You are obviously dealing with an individual who demonstrates antisocial personality disorder. He believes in his truth and completely negates yours, while coming across with no empathy for your preference for a longer battery life in subsequent OS releases. Somehow, you are the bad guy. I can only imagine what those close to this individual must think of him.

I agree with you, as those of us who have been using the OS4 are averaging 6 to 7 hours of battery life with the UHF RF power turned all the way down. I would prefer it be increased to at least 12 hours of battery in future versions, as I keep needing to charge it throughout the day when in use.

Wow Serge, "antisocial personality disorder." You know when I was in Stony Brook Medical School, NY, USA we had to do an extensive workup for that diagnosis and match up the signs and symptoms to DSM 2 and now it is DSM 5. My daughter, who is presently in Medical School, read my reaction and she says I have too much time on my hands. And I think she it correct. Let's put an end to this Post #6 and keep enjoying our Open Spot4 Pros.

Add an external USB battery bank to your setup, the kind used for charging cell phones.
Place OS on top and operate for 24 Hours.

The battery doesn’t last as long as I expected, and so should not be thought of as a primary power method. It needs to be plugged in except for light usage.
