I did some testing with the SharkRf link app on my iPhone 12.

Szenarios with test results (it seems that there is a an issue with Bluetooth in speaking mode)

  • AirPods 2
    • good quality in hearing but bad audio quality in speaking (could provide sound file if that helps)
  • Apple CarPlay (Bluetooth connect with the car)
    • good quality in hearing but bad audio quality in speaking (could provide sound file if that helps)
  • wired headset
    • good quality in hearing and good quality in speaking
  • internal speaker/mic (hands free)
    • good quality in hearing and good quality in speaking
Leon1919 changed the title to Bluetooth - poor speaking quality on iPhone 12 Pro with Sharkrf link app .

Please send the sound files to info@sharkrf.com
We've tested the app with generic Bluetooth microphones and had no issues with the sound quality.

@HA2NON any results regarding the analysis of the audio files ? I just checked it again with my iPad and the AirPods and it's still the same. It's not usable, maybe the input level is too high..........

Yes they sound poor. We've tested with generic Bluetooth microphones again and we still have no issues. We don't have AirPods to test with.

ok, It tried it with my old AirPods 1 and it's the same. so I guess there is a systematic issue with Apple Bluetooth connection (i.e. AirPods 1, AirPods 2, Apple CarPlay) with TX (RX is fine). When I'm checking the sound files my impression is that the input level for the mic is a little bit overmodulated. I can't compensate it with the audio settings in the app because the audio is then to silent and still overmodulated.
So I would really appreciate when you try to fix this. I assume that all users have the same issue with Apple Bluetooth devices.

I forgot one thing to mention. I‘m really happy to support you with testing if you provide me a Beta Version via TestFlight for iOS.

      Hi Ha2non,
As I already described in this post, I can‘t use the sharkRF link app with my Apple Devices (iphone, ipad) in combination with Apple Bluetooth devices (airpods, apple carplay). Is there any fix planned ? Again I‘m really happy to support you with testing if you provide me a beta version.

      Regards,
      Michael

The iOS app is still in beta. We plan to fix this as soon as we get a pair of AirPods. We don't have any estimated date yet.
