Can't trasmit to Openspot 1 with Yaesu FT70D

I have an Openspot 1 that I have used on D-Star successfully for many years with my Icom ID-51. This week I created a profile for my Yaesu FT70D, a radio that I have used successfully on a Pi-Star hotspot. I find that using the FT70D on the Openspot I can receive signals without problem, but I cannot successfully transmit. The Openspot does not respond in any way when I hit the push to talk. I have tried all the suggestions I have seen on this forum and on the internet without success. As an experiment I tried using my Yaesu FTM300D and found that it successfully transmits to the Openspot. So, the first question is, do you know what's going on? And the second question is, if I purchased an Openspot 4, does that model have any known issues working successfully with the FT70D? Thank you for your time!

Look for the half deviation setting and ensure it is disabled.

You can get logging information out of the openSPOT if you plug it into a computer USB port and run a terminal program.

I think there are some logging commands but I can't remember the details, ought to be in the forum or ask the SharkRF guys via email.

I use a FT70-D, a TH-D74E, Hytera -685 as well as a FTM-400XDE on an openspot4 with no problems at all

micksmith That's good to know, thanks. I did figure that if the FT70D was a problem I would have seen it on this forum. Thanks for checking in, no doubt the O4 is better than the O1!

I actually use 2 FT70-Ds, 1 i leave in the house and the other i leave in the car for when i take the openSPOT4 with me. neither been a problem

i had same problem how i managed to resolve it was to go into your ft70d press F button for a while until the menus appear then go to menu 61 and set dev to wide then quick press of the ptt to come out of the menu system and enjoy the world . best wishs mark M1TVR

I’m in the same situation but only with cross mode to D Star. All other modes work with the openspot 4 pro and the FT70D. The solution, In the radio I had “my call” as K7WCH-FT70. I removed the -FT70 and all was well. You must have only the call sign in the my call setting.
