OpenSPOT4 and Pro 4 Dropping Packets

During a net this morning, those using the OpenSPOT4 and 4 Pro, were showing packet losses greater than 14% consistently. I have both the 4 and 4 Pro and have used them on the reflector without a problem up until today. I checked my version running on my two OpenSPOS and they are V51. I checked for updates, and there none. Others on the net who had severe packet losses were also running OpenSPOTs 4 and 4 Pros. Those on Pi-Stars had no issues.

My hardware release on both devices is V1. So was there a firmware update done recently? I do not do the beta and I do have auto updates checked. I cannot tell when the last update was done.

I too have noticed this on this system. I have an OS4Pro on V54 and when I transmit the folks are seeing loss of around 9 to 10%.
When I use my OS3 on V66 the packet loss is 0.
I'm posting to to support what's going on as described above.

We have not changed anything in the past months which could cause packet loss in the outgoing stream. Which connector do you use in what modem mode? Have you tried using a different server? Do you experience issues when receiving the stream?

I am using the REF/XRF (DPlus/DExtra) Connector. It does not matter if I connect directly to the reflector or if I connect to an Icom DStar repeater that is connected to the reflector, I get the same results. When I use a Pi-Star hotspot, I have no problem.

Those with an OpenSPOT 3 have no issue. Just the OpenSPOT 4 and 4 Pros are having this issue.

I also seem to suffer big packet loss on fusion.
Even after update to the latest firmware still the same. MMDVM hotspots work fine. Seems the openspot4 pro is buggy 😩. Battery has never been right always runs down to 10% within hour and last another 10 hours usually at 3% battery. Charging ends up at the end of the charge cycle with flicking red light. Mine just 20 days away from one year old. Think it need to come back under warranty

WB7NIL's issue was with the server, not the openSPOT4. Try using a different server, and also test the connection between your transceiver and the OS4 using the built-in local echo service.

Please make sure to charge the battery full. If the battery is fully charged then the charge LED turns off and the charging status displays "ready".

You'll need a charger with at least 1500mA of supply current capacity in order to charge the unit while it's in use. You can check the currently detected charger current limit at the "USB current limit" field at the openSPOT4 info section on the Status page.

The length of the discharge time is affected by a lot of things. The battery will discharge faster if:

The device is transmitting or receiving
There's traffic on the connected Wi-Fi network (even if the traffic is not to/from the openSPOT4)
Wi-Fi signal quality
Cross mode is used
Web interface is opened

Note that the battery charge percentage level is a rough estimate and it is normal that the percentage is different when charging or discharging.
