Warning: Color Code Mismatch In Received Stream From Modem, Or AutoCal Is Needed

I have an openSPOT4 Pro and an Anytone AT-D878UV that I am using on BrandMeister. I received the above mentioned message that is in the subject line. I ran AutoCal and that seemed to take care of the problem for now. (I was pretty sure that my Color Code was 1 on my radio and on my openSPOT4 Pro, since I didn't change the openSPOT4 Pro Color Code and default is Color Code 1. I programmed my Anytone AT-D878UV and it shows Color Code 1.)

Is this more of an issue using certain radios? Also, if this likely to arise any time I change modes or talkgroups? I also did a search and see that some others have had similar issues.

This is all down to small frequency errors between the two ends of the link, if the reference oscillators slowly age or drift over temperature the error rate can increase enough to cause errors in important parts of the transmit packet which have little or no protection with error correction coding.

This is why a hotspot of any type may not work with a wide range of radios simultaneously. In theory all of the devices in use must have frequency errors of <1ppm or perhaps even better. Cheap TCXOs can have errors of up to 2.5ppm and may not be trimmed in production.

I just charged my Hytera PDC760, programmed in a DMR Talkgroup and did not get that warning.
