Openspot 4 Pro - Connecting to a Wires-X Node

I've seen a few posts on this topic that are year(s) old, but wanted to check to see if anything has changed.

The specific use case is the ability to connect directly to a Wires-X node with the Openspot 4 Pro (not just a reflector or YSF room). For example, if there is a System Fusion repeater that is connected to the internet and assigned a 5 digit Wires-X ID number -- is there a way to connect directly to that repeater?

I'm able to connect to the YSF rooms without issue, but I don't see a way to directly connect to a node.

Wires-X is Yaesu's proprietary network setup, as far as I know you must connect to it using a Yaesu product directly.

Thank you very much for the thoughts here. Does anyone know if Yaesu took a different approach in terms of the “openess” of their protocol vs. Icom (with D-Star)? Connecting directly to a Wires-X node seems to be analogous to connecting directly to a D-Star gateway — if I understand the function correctly.

Anyone at SharkRF have latest information on this please?

I think that a PC running Wires-X software is needed, which means that there has to be an RF bridge into the Wires-X network with a suitable C4FM radio attached to the PC or with an HRI-200 interface.

As for openness I don't recall seeing a lot of detail on Wires-X although there is information on the C4FM RF packet formats.
