M1KE voice dropouts on DMR

HA2NON Bandwidth is set to max (160Mhz at 5Ghz, no ability to select for 2.4Ghz). My Deco XE75 does not give me the option to change channels, unfortunatly. I might try a different router.

HA2NON I also have this problem with m1ke if I connect to my phone WIFI no problem my home WIFI dropouts .
If I use my openspot 4 pro no dropouts on the home WIFI .

I did try different WIFI channels 1,6,11 at 20mhz no help.,

I was on DMR TG with several hams tonight that have the m1ke and they also had the same problem but the ones with the openspot 4 no problem.

also did the upgrade to V9 same problem.

I can attest to this.
I was one of the other Hams.

Problem followed us to the DMR testing TG as well.

I was going to buy a different router since I cannot control channels on my Deco mesh system. I'm glad I didn't, as it seems to be happening regardless of channel and/or bandwith adjustments by switching to 1, 6, or 11 with greater than 20Mhz.

I will be following this thread for any updates.

Part of the difficulty is that a significant number of router vendors seem to have concentrated on performance and features for the 5G/6G bands, 2.4GHz is a bit left behind because it can't really provide such high performance.

I agree mine on DMR drops out as well my internet speed is 1000/50mps

Dropouts can happen when there's an issue/interference with:

The server
The server's internet connection (most amateur radio servers are running on unstable home internet connections not suitable for international links)
The link between the server and your Wi-Fi router, or your internet connection
Your Wi-Fi router
The Wi-Fi link between your device and your Wi-Fi router

These issues cause dropped packets, which are indicated on the Dejitter queue graph on the Status page as "invalid seqnum errors". They may cause dropouts in the voice transmissions.

The M1KE uses only a few kilobits per second for transmitting/receiving voice data so internet connection speed does not matter - what matters in this case is the stability of the link between the device and the server. You can have dropouts even on a very fast internet connection if there's packet loss on the link.

What you can do to avoid dropouts are:

Use a different server, which has a stable connection (try BrandMeister servers)
Place the device close to the Wi-Fi router.
Make sure the Wi-Fi bandwith is set to max. 20Mhz in the Wi-Fi router (see explanation here: https://superuser.com/questions/542191/does-moving-my-router-from-20mhz-to-40-mhz-increase-my-wireless-speed) This helps in crowded Wi-Fi situations.
Try switching Wi-Fi channel on your Wi-Fi router. Only channels 1, 6 or 11 should be used (see explanation here: https://corecabling.com/whats-the-benefit-of-channels-1-6-and-11/)
Try using a different Wi-Fi router or internet connection

It might be that quality of service (QoS) is not enabled on routers with this problem, the idea being that you prioritise UDP packets to minimise dropouts for time critical communications.

If you can find QoS settings ensure they are enabled.

I decided to upgrade my router to WiFi 7, with the hope my M1KE drop out issue would go away on the TGIF network. Unfortunatly, the new router made no difference. The drop outs are still there with no improvment or worsening.

Perhaps I need to set up a very old router separately to use my M1KE? I am at a loss here, as I cannot control the things HA2NON mentioned other than closeness to my router, the connection I pay for from my ISP (very HQ and fast), etc.

When I use a radio with my OpenSpot 4 Pros it works just fine. Also, the M1KE works fine if tethered to my iPhones hotspot.

Update
I switched from a mesh system to a conventional Wifi 7 Router. The drop outs have gone away.

Mesh networks just re-broadcast packets of data too much to be smooth.
Single routers work best. Also some wifi-extenders have issues too with re-broadcast.
Video and most internet audio works fine with mesh-networks but the packets are re-transmitted and on ham radio DV most audio packets are not re-transmitted So they are lost packets of data never to return.
