Change profiles --> openSpot4 reboot--> different IP

Hello, I am running v82, and the problem I am about to describe has occurred before this upgrade. Here we go; I have two profiles, one for DMR and the other for C4FM. Both are configured to receive its IP address via DHCP. I note an IP address of 192.168.254.170 when connecting to sharked.link. After a profile change and reboot, it periodically does not return to the original IP, although I can see it on the network with an address of 192.168.254.186. The sharkrf.link becomes accessible with the new IP address. For example sake, I'm only using two profiles here, but this happens with other profiles as well. Sometimes, this behavior doesn't happen at all. As a workaround, I assigned a static IP of 192.168.254.170 to each profile, but I got the same result. I'm wondering if the other IP is being cached. I've already flushed my DNS cache. Anyone else running in this behavior? Regards, Sean

Quick follow-up. I checked my DHCP entries and noted that the OpenSpot4 device's MAC is assigned to 192.168.254.170 and the OpenSpot4's Browser Client MAC address is assigned to 192.168.254.186. That means there are times after a reboot I reach the sharkRF page via the IP assigned to the device MAC and other times using the IP assigned to the Browser MAC client.

Your router decides which IP address it assigns to each device. Address assignment is usually done by the device's MAC address. If the MAC address does not change then routers usually assign the same IP address to the device. Make sure you have not overidden the factory MAC address in your configuration profiles (Network page, MAC settings section).

HA2NON Thank you for the quick reply! I validated that the device MAC is the original for each profile. I will dig further into my router. I just may change where the DHCP server resides. Instead of the router, I will use the AP to perform those duties and see the results. Have a great weekend! Sean

HA2NON Thanks a bunch for your help! I figured out the issue by assigning a static IP to each profile and reserving the openSPOT4 MAC address in DHCP. I really appreciate it! I’m a huge fan of openSPOT!
