I kept getting the not in database error. The solution is to load the firmware from a computer. The exact instructions are given in the troubleshooting part of the manual so I wont repeat it here.
iPhone
Here there are 2 things. The iPhone settings have to be set correctly. Turn on the “maximize compatibility” on the hotspot settings
Search for and then accept the iPhone wifi rather than simply typing in the connection information.
