P25 Mode Inconsistency

WB3IHY

Noticed that the M1KE does not consistently identify the user or P25 reflector on transmit.

For example, if I transmit to the P25 North America reflector, I'll show up correctly as:
Time (EDT) Mode Callsign Target Src Dur(s) Loss BER
14:39:46 Aug 01 P25 WB3IHY TG 10200 Net 1.8 0% ---

On a subsequent transmission, I may show up as:
Time (EDT) Mode Callsign Target Src Dur(s) Loss BER
14:41:16 Aug 01 P25 NOCALL TG 0 Net 1.8 0%

This will persist until another station on a non M1KE device transmits. Then, my proper callsign and the reflector number will start appearing again.

This behavior has been observed from several M1KE users on using several different P25 reflectors/servers, so that would seem to eliminate a specific server as the cause. It seems to be behavior on the M1KE unit itself.

Any ideas?

I have noticed the exact same issue here in Aus with two of our local P25 reflectors.
In fact, I was having a QSO today with a station and I was not showing on the dashboard at all however, he replied that he was hearing me all ok.
I have also posted an issue on this forum whereby my callsign does not show on P25 dashboards other than in the Gateway column. The Callsign shows as 2117555. I can find no reference to this 7 digit ID. I can only assume, maybe wrongly, that P25 on the M1KE is being made available by “software” on the Shark RF severs as we were advised early in the M1KE release that P25 is not available due to the hardware (Chip) being used in the M1KE unlike the OS4 Pro etc ?
Maybe some clarification from Norbert will help us understand the P25 a little better on the M1KE.

HA2NON

WB3IHY can you please post a device log excerpt (from the Console on the Status page) which shows an outgoing call which is shown incorrectly on the server dashboard?

HA2NON

Calls are transmitted directly to/from the configured server and not through our servers.

We'll look at this P25 ID - callsign resolve issue next week.

HA2NON Many thanks for looking into this issue Norbert.
For info, DROIDSTAR P25 Tx shows correct Callsigns etc on P25 dashboards.

Following is what is seen (same server) on Droidstar screen when being keyed from M1KE.
Callsign being used from M1KE is VK4MY / 5054340 with DMR ID ext 35.
2117555 is what is displayed on Droidstar screen and P25 Reflector dashboards.

Thanks for looking into this Norbert.

HA2NON

Note that P25 does not transmit callsign information, only IDs. We don't know what database Droidstar uses to resolve IDs to callsigns.

HA2NON
Thanks for info Norbert.
Can you please key Reflector 10400 P25 with the M1KE and then check 10400 dashboard.
http://pacificp25.repeaters.info
I would be interested to know what callsign/ID is being displayed.
Is it same as I am seeing 2117555 ? Other P25 Relectors show same ID.
I do not have a P25 radio so cannot see what is happening using my OS4 Pro.

Appreciate your help

Hi Norbert, I have found the Dashboard callsign issue. I had two extra digits (DMR SSID) on the end of my DMR ID for P25 in the “Owner Information) area of the Quick Setup. This was giving an incorrect ID for P25. I hope you havn’t been spending too much time on this.
There are still issues as posted by WB3IHY of Callsign not showing in Dashboard during Tx.
Best 73 Mike

Certainly. See attached file. One such call occurred at exactly 11:14:58 in the log. It showed "NOCALL TG 0" on the server dashboard. However, from what I can see, the device log entry appears the same as others where my callsign showed as "WB3IHY TG 10210" which is, of course, correct.

Maybe you can see something I missed:
