Ethernet and/or Tethering

I just wanted to make an official entry on the Feature Requests based on my thread on the General Discussions board. Please provide support for a hardwired connection between the OS and the Internet connection - either Ethernet, Ethernet over USB, or support for tethering in a future product. The fe...

Re: USB Tethering Supported?

Ok thanks for the response. I try to do as much as possible to eliminate as many RF based connections between my hotspot and the Internet. The more RF connections, the greater the opportunity for increasing BER. I won’t ever get rid of my Openspot 1 for this very reason. I would love to see you guys...

USB Tethering Supported?

Hello, I’m curious to know if the OS3 supports USB tethering. I can connect a Raspberry Pi Zero to my Mi-Fi cellular hotspot and it appears to the operating system as if it’s an Ethernet interface. I saw someone asked about the OS2 but they were specifically asking about using it with an iPhone. -Je...

Re: Out For review

Funny! I went to the Brandmeister dashboard the other day and saw there were 3 Openspot 3s connected to the network. I figured there was at least one development unit and a couple of seed units out there. :-)

WiFi Chipset in OS3

Hello,

Does the OS3 have the exact same WiFi chipset that the OS2 does? Or did you select another for the new model (I hope)?

Thanks!

Re: FW & database download failures

Regardless of what causes a browser refresh...network connectivity...the time of the day...the earth/moon/stars not being in alignment...a browser refresh shouldn’t break a download. The download should be a separate process that’s not affected by browser interactions. In fact, customers should even...

Re: FW & database download failures

I’ve had an OS2 since they were first released. The web interface seems to periodically refresh and, if there’s either a database or firmware update downloading when the interface refreshes, the download stops and you have to start all over again. Things are definitely a lot better than they were a ...

Re: Openspot2 - Mistake for SharkRf???

I agree with just about everything each of you said. The day that the OS2 preview video hit the Interwebs I wrote a post about how the lack of a display was a huge mistake. I stand by that point to this day. Having to keep another device connected to the OS2 just to keep an eye on what it’s doing i...

Re: Netgear Nighthawk LTE Cellular Hotspot

I’m so happy you’ve made so much progress! I have to say that, beyond any shadow of a doubt, the OS1 is far superior to the OS2 in terms of the hardware design and reliability. My only wish is that SharkRF didn’t just drop the OS1 like a hot potato. It’s absolutely amazing to me to see them abandon ...
