Re: Minimum Internet Speed Required

The data rate for any of the ham digital voice modes is low, plus any handshakes, etc. D-Star runs 4800 bps. Double that for DMR. The bigger issue is the variable nature of the internet and in particular mobile phone based internet. If you run a speed check app that draws graphs, there are often sig...

Re: Openspot2 issues with ID-51a DSTAR

Is it definitely originating at your end of the QSO? I sometimes experience exactly the same broken signals. I use an ID51 too. If I use a Pi-Star setup via an 3G/4G (LTE) phone connection (Raspberry Pi Zero and MMDVM board) I often receive reports of broken transmissions. With no corresponding repo...

Don't think MCW is possible using the ADF7021 modem, it's not intended for analogue modes.
There’s an ADF7021 in my MMDVM hat sitting on a Raspberry Pi, running under Pi-Star. That sends FM MCW which sounds fine on an FM handy.

The currently transmitted unmodulated carrier wave satisfies regulatory requirements.
It might well do, but as a seasoned ex professional Morse operator, even I find it hard to work out my own ID from a Shark using an FM hand held...

ID using MCW rather than CW

The Shark ID is currently sent by keying a carrier on/off, other hotspots send a carrier that has an FM modulated keyed tone that is easy to copy on any hand held. While there is little point in transmitting ID on a unit that radiates no further than a car remote locking key, if necessary for licens...

Store call data?

Viewing the status page only shows calls that take place while the web browser is open.

Is it possible to have calls held in RAM to view later?

Device time?

While I can manually update the time on the Open Spot, within a few minutes it's off by several minutes. I manually updated it about an hour ago and it's now 14 mins slow. Calls shown on the status page are showing the correct time, which I guess is based on the network time. Is the device time of a...

Re: Shipping to UK

I don’t know what being in or out of the EU has to do with buying and shipping, other than customs charges when outside the EU. I buy plenty of items from the USA without difficulty.

An order from Shark was shipped today with delivery scheduled for tomorrow... what’s not to like?
