Re: Talker alias

The idea behind Talker Alias is that it should originate from the users radio, in the same way that D-Star sends a short message with each transmission.

As far as I know, only the AnyTone 878 currently includes T/A, even though it has been part of the DMR specification since 2016.

Re: Overall poor performance

The range of my OS2 easily outperforms the Chinese copy MMDVM board on my Raspberry Pi, even though the MMDVM board has a helical antenna attached. The issue with mine is the poor RX sensitivity of the MMDVM board, which is odd as it connects straight to the IC. What power level have you got the OS2...

Re: Problems With iphone

I use my OS2 tethered via an iPhone SE all the time, no problem at all. I can view the status page better with a PC or laptop, but don’t often need to see what is happening (ie auto connect on power up, just pull the power to shut down). Note, if you tether to a phone, the phone and OS2 need to be q...

Re: Radio Setup - ID 51A Plus2

With the Icom programming tool (CS-51) under digital\repeater list, find UK_DV_Nodes (or whatever is appropriate for USA simplex digital nodes). You should find several. Add another as type “DV Repeater”, name it Shark, sub name Node, Repeater callsign of your callsign<spaces>D (D being the last cha...

Re: Inconsistent connections to wi-fi networks

If you have neighbours using WiFi there is likely to be a clash. I’ve had mine running perfectly then struggle when I suspect a neighbour has switched a router on, the OS2 currently only uses the older 2.4GHz band and that can be very busy at times, I often see close to 20 SSIDs on an upstairs WiFi ...

Re: Connecting Icom id-4100a

Hi Lee I’m home for the moment, and quite busy for the next couple of days. I have an ID51 and an ID5100, I guess your 4100 will be similar. With the Icom programming tool (CS-4100?), under digital\repeater list, find UK_DV_Nodes (or whatever is appropriate for simplex digital nodes). You should fin...

Re: Connecting Icom id-4100a

Think if you look for the digital nodes and add a similar one, with your details, it should be in the right place. Sorry, not at home so can’t pull up the programming software to help. It’s a refreshing change to come across someone programming their own kit. Sadly many take the easy route and take ...

Re: Connecting Icom id-4100a

If you have a typical Icom configuration there will be both repeaters and nodes. Check the settings for a pre-configured node and edit yours to be similar. Note the duplex and 0 offset setting.Call it “Shark OS” and give the lat/long coordinates of your home. When calling you need to “use reflector”...

Re: This forum needs securing agains unauthorized posts. Its almost unusable.

Many forums need the administrators to manually approve an application to join, indeed some check the first few posts before they appear on the forum.
As a minimum, perhaps a check against a valid callsign/email on QRZ.com? There can't be many short wave listeners who use openSPOT...
