WiFi problem with Huawei E5885

Post by OZ9KL » Wed Mar 27, 2019 4:11 am

Hi All.

I have had my OP2 for several months, and it have always worked as it should. I mainly use it in my car, connected to my iPhone, and sometime from home connected to my Huawei B525S LTE router. Yesterday I bought a mobile LTE router for my car, a Huawei E5885, which is capable of running both 5 and 2.4 Ghz as the B525 also is. But I can't get the OP2 to connect to it. I know OP2 is only 2.4 GHz, and even if I set the E5885 to only running in 2.4 GHz mode and channel 11, it is imposible to connect to it. Other devices, as my laptop and iPad has no problem connect to it, but the OP2 don't. I can see that it is actually connecting, and then disconnecting in an endless loop. I have seen in the past that a lot of people is having wireless trouble with the OP2, and always thought, that they must be doing something wrong. But now I can join these people.

Make sure you enter the password case sensitive. Make sure the router's support for 802.11n is turned on, not just 802.11ac. Try switching the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel on the router. Also you should try with the latest beta firmware of the openSPOT2 (which will become stable next week).

Hi HA2NON

I have tried all your suggestions with no luck. I'm also running latest beta firmware.
As I wrote the strange thing is, that other devices is fully capable to connect to the router on 2.4 Ghz.
And the other funny thing is, that the OP2 actually connects, and then disconnects, in an endless loop.
I can se it on the Danish DMR Dashboard.

Kim

Are you sure the openSPOT2 disconnects from the Wi-Fi network? Open it's web interface and check the log. Also check the LED colors.

Hi HA2NON.

Yes I'm pretty sure that's what happens. When it disconnects, I got the message from my radio: "Trying to connect WiFi", or something similar. I'm at work right now, so the message is after my memory.
I will later on check the logs and LED.

Hi HA2NON

I have tried to connect to the Huawei E5885 again, and still don't succeed. This time OP2 actually stays connected, but as I see it, it have some problem to resolve adresses. I have also tried to override DNS adresses in the network configuration with the DNS server from Google. Still same error. I can't either connect to the OP2's web interface, when I'm connected to the Huawei, and yes I'm here trying from a laptop also connected to the same WLan. I have tried to connect other devices, which is only capable of running 2.4 GHz, and they are working. The log attached are captured from the Serial console, as I can't take it from the Web interface. I did that, that I initiated a wireless scan, and tried to connect to the Huawei, which SSID is CHotspot2.4. At the end I did a NET, so you can see that I'm actually connected.
Hope you can see something from the attached log file.

Make sure Wi-Fi client isolation is turned off in the router. Log shows no errors except the DNS server is not responding.

It is turned off.
Please note, that I can't connect to the web interface, even if I try to connect direct to the OP2 IP address 192.168.8.101. This has nothing to do with DNS.

What LED color do you have?
Do you use sharkrf.link?

I have problem with the same Huawei hotspot. With my Samsung Galaxy S10 in hotspot mode there is no problem, but with the Huawei Hotspot that's never work, the openspot2 is connected to the wifi network, but don't find internet connexion, even if i put google dns on the openspot2.

The other device connected to the huawei hotspot work fine.

When i put the IP of the openspot2, i can't access to it.

The openspot2 always says internet unreachable ??
