Problem receiving and transmitting OpenSpot2

Post by M0BOB »

I recently moved house and my OpenSpot2 worked perfectly at my old QTH. I set it up at my new QTH (new Internet Service Provider...Sky) and it doesn't work correctly. Whenever, I listen to transmissions they sound like a robot who has swallowed broken glass and they only last a few seconds at a time. My radio is an Anytone AT-D868UV and it works ok via repeaters.

I have tried Auto-Calc several times and it makes no difference.

I changed my Internet Channel from Auto to Channel 1 and also Ch 11, neither of those changes made any difference.

The light on top of my OpenSpot2 when the radio is off flashes red very fast, when I turn the radio on and press the PTT, it is a slow green pulsating light.

I have carried out the latest updates to OS2 and I am using it on full power (full power on my radio too). I have also updated my radio to the latest firmware v2.36.

I have changed the frequencies on both my radio and on the OS2, but it didn't make any difference. They are both on the same frequency.

The OS2 is next to my Router and I have used my radio while standing next to the OpenSpot2, it is still the same, garbled and distorted speech that lasts about 2 seconds. If I do an Echotest and count to 10, I can only hear 5,6,7,8,9 & 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Bob.

Please make sure the openSPOT2 is upgraded to the latest stable firmware v63, and then do local echo tests using your transceiver by calling DMR ID 9999. Do you hear yourself back correctly?

I checked for upgrades, but it states "No upgrades found". I'm not sure what I should do next.

When I carry out an Echotest on 9999, I can hear my voice intermittently. It is not continuous.

I even bought a new antenna in case there was a problem with the old one, but that didn't help either.

If running DMR AutoCal does not help, then please try adjusting the RX offset on the Modem page in +-100Hz steps. If it still does not help, then change the RX & TX frequencies and retry AutoCal and/or adjusting the RX offset until you find a setting which gives you the lowest BER and continuous voice on the local echo.
