Hello - I have just upgraded to V8 but I only see these options.

Dark mode
Power saving
Power off if no charger is connected
Disable fast battery charging

Looking for the one to use when the device is plugged in a lot of the time.

Thanks.

James.

You don't need to change any setting.

I think that option has been taken away from the menus or more accurately, it's "automatic" now. I don't know what the Automatic long life actually does but since V8, its auto.

The setting has been removed in firmware v8 as now it is handled automatically.

I would like to say again that the charging behaviour is not designed for "long life". The battery is constantly charged to 100% and this over 40 times a day when the OS3 is constantly connected to the charger.
Therefore you can expect a rather fast loss of battery capacity.

There won't be any issues with your battery. We've been testing OS3s for almost a year, always plugged in, without any loss in battery performance.

the device is used with an always connected USB power supply.
I started to turn on the Power Saving Mode since my OS3 is used a lot plugged in at my QTH. This message stopped me from clicking ok. I have firmware V17. I know this is an older post, but is Long Life Mode and Power Saving Mode the same thing?

"Warning: enabling powersaving will only let you open the web interface reliably using sharkrf.link."

I have trouble with sharkrf.link on occasion and use my router's IP address which works every time.

Your thoughts?

The battery long life mode was only available in a beta firmware and has been replaced by an automatic mechanism so you don't have to modify any setting. Power saving reduces power consumption of your openSPOT3, which is useful if you run it from the battery, but you can also use it all the time. Hint: power saving can be toggled also by pressing the Wi-Fi button quickly 3 times.
