Full Duplex for next version?

Post by ke4bzd »

Just a request for the Openspot 4, please make this a full duplex model.

I fully support this request. After having bought the OS1 I found out that a simplex modem does not work well with DMR. When one timeslot is occupied, one cannot use the other timeslot with a simplex modem.
A duplex modem does not have that problem. This is very important for a country where DMR is widely spread, e.g. my country The Netherlands.
This, and the pricing, made me decide to buy no further OS but to buy some MMDVM modems for the Raspberry Pi working under Pi-star. When OS decides to put a duplex modem on the market I will consider to buy one.

Agreed that it makes DMR much more usable, but there is definitely benefit with other modes as well; particularly D-Star.

This comes when you have two quick-keying, long-winded old men on a reflector. With a duplex hotspot, you can send a disconnect command even while they are transmitting.

agree, full duplex would be a plus. especially since many people don't do courtesy breaks.
