RF drops out on DMR

Post by W6AAX »

All other modes and cross modes work fine except for DMR. Once the connection is made to any Brandmeister TG, that connection is announced by the OS3, and audio comes through the DMR radio as normal (tG9) if there is traffic. However, after 30 seconds audio is no longer heard and no more RF to the radio. The Status Page still reports a connection, the current station is displayed and the led flashes red while the station is being received. Everything appears to be displayed normal by the status page but nothing heard on the radio. If I reconnect to the talk group, everything is fine for 30 seconds and then the RF drops out to the radio.

If you use a DMR transceiver, then make sure the "Send no in-band data to modem" setting is enabled (Settings page, DMR settings section). Make sure the openSPOT's TX power is set to 100%. Check your transceiver's configuration for any timeouts.

If the openSPOT3's LED is blinking red, then it is transmitting. You can verify this if you switch your transceiver to analog FM mode so you can hear the data signal.

Checked all the above suggestions. Could having the Local TG9 set to Group have anything to do with this issue? The OS3 is definitely transmitting on the assigned simplex frequency. Again, cross mode works just fine with this radio. (Alnico DJ-MD5)

Do you mean that you use call rerouting?

No, I have a simplex channel that is assigned to TG9 called LOCAL. But it is assigned as a Group call.

You have to set up a channel on your transceiver with the TG you want to talk/hear as the TX contact. Also you should create an RX group list with TG9 in it, and assign this list to all channels you use for the openSPOT3 to be able to hear voice announcements coming from the openSPOT3 (they are transmitted to TG9). Please see http://manuals.sharkrf.com/openspot3/en ... notes.html
