Voice Announcements to AllCall Talkgroup?

Post by N6MIK » Wed May 24, 2017 12:09 am

Hello All.

Question about voice announcements on DMR - Is there a way to have Voice Announcements send to a TG other than 9?

Ideally, I'd want the announcements to go out on 16777215 (Allcall) so regardless of what TG i've selected in the radio, I'll hear the announcements.

Is there a way to do this? Thank you! N6MIK

Add TG9 to an RX group list in your radio, and assign that RX group list to all channels, so you will always hear TG9.

Thank you Norbert. I've tried this. It only works for me if there is no traffic on TG9 (such as reflectors).

Would you consider, in a future release, the ability to assign voice announcements to any TG?

Thanks! N6MIK

I would like to vote for this as well (custom TG for announcements)

I don't understand. openSPOT's voice announcements always override any ongoing calls. If you have TG9 in your radio's RX group list, and that RX group list is assigned to your current channel in your radio, then you will hear them.

Here's my scenario -

Radio Channel 1 is TG3100, with the RX list containing TG9.
The OpenSpot is has 3100 static and is connected to a reflector on TG9.

With my radio on channel 1, I'll hear announcements plus any traffic from the reflector, even though I only want to hear TG3100.

Being able to select the TG for announcements would fix this. It would still use the RX list, but the TG wouldn't be shared with reflectors.
This would also allow some added flexibility for hearing/not-hearing announcements by either having or not having the announcement TG in an RX list in the radio on a per channel basis. :)

I hope this helps. Thank you!

If you don't want to hear traffic from a reflector, disconnect it.

You can disconnect a reflector by making a short *private* call to 4000. This only disconnects the currently linked reflector. If you want to disconnect both reflectors and talkgroups, start a short *group* call to 4000.

I just got my open spot up and running today. It is working great with a TYT MD380. However, I am not hearing the announcements from the open spot. I have the TG9 in the RX list.....I still do not hear the announcements. Am I missing a step in the programming?

Thanks!

After creating the RX group list with TG9 in it, you have to assign it to the current channel of your radio, so it's not enough to just create an RX group list.

So I will only hear the announcements if I am on the channel TG9? OK I was under the impression that the announcements would over ride the channel audio when connected via the openspot no matter the channel/talk group I was on.

Thanks!
