TYT MD380 Code Plug for OpenSpot

Post by AB8DT » Wed Oct 26, 2016 2:40 pm

Does anyone have a code plug for the Tytera MD380 available that they set up to work with the OpenSpot?

Check the files section of Facebook group BrandMeister Talk Group 3148. There is a codeplug there for most of the English speaking talk groups.

If you find a codeplug for a DVMega it will be the same. You just have to make sure you frequencies match. However I strongly recommend that you learn to program your own codeplug for Brandmeister repeaters or hotspots because there are so many combinations of talkgroups that are possible and someone else's needs will likely be different than yours.

Writing a code plug for the radio is not the problem or an issue. What I am looking for is how people are configuring their radio (ie: MD380) to use in conjunction with the OpenSpot. The way I am gathering when your connector is in "Homebrew" and when on a BrandMeister server you only need to set it to TG9 and the radio will do the Talk Group changing hence why I was asking if someone had it configured to work in conjunction. I have been playing with it and I am getting close. It shows up correctly on BM Last Heard but on Hoseline the audio is not going thru.

Actually on Brandmeister TG9 is only used to manual dial reflectors. Except for the few cases where talkgroups are linked to reflectors you need a channels programed in your radio for the talkgroups you want to connect to.

Here is a list of talkgroups that are linked to reflectors. Only a small percentage of the available talkgroups.

Got it figured out. If you can blow up the photo you can get an idea of how to configure the MD380 to change TG with OpenSpot.

Basically you have done as I suggested, that is create a channel for each talkgroup you want. I might add that recieve group lists are unnecessary using the Openspot. They are needed when using repeaters so you can hear any traffic that might be using the time slot before you transmit. When you are using the Openspot you are only using the talkgroup that you are connected to so there is no need to monitor other talkgroups. You will automatically hear the talkgroup that you are transmitting on without the need of a receive group list.

Okay... Step #2 is not needed. Thanks for the clarification Harry.
