Reflector announcement issue.

Post by G0SMO » Sun Dec 01, 2019 7:19 pm

Hi,
Can anyone help please?

I have a Retevis RT3 running through an Openspot 1 on the Phoenix network.

When I put my radio in promiscuous mode and key up it announced “ connected to reflector 4400” etc in a voice not dissimilar to Arnold swarzenegger.
However, this interferes with any received transmittion and announces the new reflector each time I change channel.
Can this announcement be turned off and if so, how do I do it?
I’ve tried everything I can think of but without success.
Here’s hoping someone can help please.

Which connector do you use on the openSPOT2? You can turn off the openSPOT's voice announcements on the Settings page, Voice announcements section, so they won't interfere with any server announcement.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I’ve tried turning off the voice announcements but it still does it.

As for the connector, I’m not sure what you mean by this?

What I have found is that once I connect to the Openspot on my phone the voice announcements stop, until that point they announce every time I press the PTT.

Amy ideas?

If you disable the voice announcements on the openSPOT's web interface then the openSPOT won't transmit any voice announcements. If you still hear voice announcements, then they are coming from the network you are using.

Which connector do you have activated in the openSPOT (Connectors page)?
If it's the DMRplus connector, then make sure you transmit your calls to TG9 on your radio (set the TX contact to TG9 for the current channel on the radio).

I’m using home brew/mmdvm and am not using DMR Plus.

I have checked again and I do not have voice announcements checked.

Does this help at all or make any sense?

Please contact support of the Phoenix network, as the interfering voice announcement is coming from the server.
