TH-D74 Reporting Incorrect Reflector

Post by G7EQM »

Hi,
Has anyone else using one of the new Kenwood TH-D74's noticed this?

If I go into Openspot and link (using the browser) to REF001/C when someone transmits through this reflector, the screen on the radio reports the correct callsign BUT it reports that the user is working through REF001/D ????

I have clarified that the Openspot is connecting to REF001/C and that the user is actually operating through REF001/C (both by working them and by checking on Hoseline, so it must be that the radio is incorrectly interpreting the transmission of the reflector information?

I have only noticed this on REF001/C today, so will try other reflectors tomorrow to see if the same thing happens

When an incoming transmission is received, openSPOT does not insert anything into the message field. You see the message the user or the server is transmitting to your radio.

Not sure I explained very well - please see photo

The same thing applies when connected to REF006/A - the display shows REF006/D

openSPOT does not modify messages coming from the network, so you see on your radio what openSPOT receives from the server.

I'm now wondering if the "D" designator represents the fact that it is an internet connection, in the same way as the other gateway modules show the connection frequency, rather than it indicating the full reflector designator e.g. REF001/C??
• 1.2 GHz Voice A
• 440 MHz Voice B
• 144 MHz Voice C

Could this be the case?
