Firmware 0131 problem

Post by K6EEP » Fri Dec 01, 2017 4:40 am

After installing firmware 0131 into my brand new Openspot v1.1 it fails to exit boot loader mode.
Even after a power cycle it remains in boot loader mode. No web interface. I downloaded the firmware twice and tried two installs. No help. So I downloaded and installed firmware 0127 and it works just fine now.
I have the port scans to show it not providing the web page. Others may be running into this.

Please re-download the firmware file as it may got corrupted. What files do you see on the openSPOT bootloader drive after the firmware upgrade finishes?

After a few of us in the area upgraded the firmware to 0131, we began to notice that some radios
(TYT and other Chinese derivatives) do not receive correctly. The Radios do detect the signal but quickly go silent even though the openSPOT is still transmitting. There may be some minor changes to the modulation of the talk group that is affecting these radios. Reverting back to v 0127 seems to cure the issues, so it is my belief that some of the modem code in v0131 has been changed for the worst.
I run my openSPOT at the minimum power so as not to overload these radios when in close proximity.

If you have success.txt, then the firmware upgrade process is finished correctly. You need to manually reboot the device or wait 1 minute (the bootloader automatically reboots after 1 minute of inactivity). If the web interface does not load, try emptying your browser's cache.

Just to be clear. I downloaded the 0131 image twice. And tried the install with both. All installs gave me a SUCCESS>TXT file.
I used the exact same process with the 0127 image and I had no problems.
So I am doing the process correctly.
It must be a corrupt image file.
I will try a few more times over the weekend.

I downloaded 0131 again. And I ran a checksum on it against the other image I had. They matched.
So I went through the install and it worked perfectly.
I wonder if the reset button had gotten stuck against the case when I pressed it at some point? Hmm.
The button and the hole are not exactly lined up. The button is high and left of the hole as seen looking at back of the case.
Anyway it works now. Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

OpenSpot - Amateur Radio Gateway - test and error message
(Source: DO7STL Stefan - Hamburg / Germany)

The gateway has been updated to 0131 with firmware update.
The FTM100DE radio has been updated to the latest firmware.
After the firmware updates, the Openspot showed constantly fast interrupts on broadcasts with the status in call / standby. A trouble-free operation was not possible.

The firmware had to be reseted to 0127.

What do you mean by "constantly fast interrupts on broadcasts"? Please explain the issue in more detail, and how to reproduce it. Please also post screenshot of your modem and connector settings page.

During Tx the openspot with firmware 0131 made rapid change between sending (in Call ) an standby. No QSO possible. With 0127 no problem.
