You can set a CW ID which openSPOT will transmit at the specified interval with the specified speed. Note that openSPOT transmits an unmodulated carrier wave, so you’ll only be able to hear it with a radio which is capable of CW/SSB demodulation.

The above is from the openSPOT manual. I suggest you read it.

Thanks. I am using a MD-380 DMR HT, not sure how to receive the CWID with modulation feature...

Bottom line is you won't hear it on the MD380 in DMR mode. However, if you listen to the openSPOT transmit frequency on an analog FM receiver, then you will see the radio LED flash and hear the squelch drop. You can also watch the CW ID on the openSPOT TX red LED flash the code.

You need a radio that does 70 cm all mode, most all of the "Shack in a box" radios will do the trick , such as the Yaesu FT 991A, the Icom IC 7100, the Kenwood TS 2000 etc..

You need something that has a BFO and is set to SSB/CW mode. I don't believe that the radio you are asking about has this mode.

A TH-F6 or TH-F7 will work.

Nope the 74a doesn't do sideband ,then again half of the radio isn't in the manual that it shipped with, but I love mine, it's never far away.

Hi I tried my TH-F-7 on USB mode, can not pick the CWID but only the dull CW signal. With my FT-857 on USB mode it picks up CWID from Openspot perfectly.
