P25 Mode

Post by W4NFD » Sun Dec 24, 2017 8:08 pm

I'm posting this question once again. Is P25 mode being considered as an upgrade on the SharkRF?
Would be nice. I currently use the P25 mode on my Raspberry Pi 3 with the DV4mini but the DV4 in itself
sucks. The openspot is much more stable in any mode and I'm sure it would be in P25 also.
You guys do wonderful work on these devices and the addition of P25 mode would be even greater!!

I think developers lost the intrest in the OpenSpot, no real progress in Beta FW, no P25 on horizont.

I also use a ZUM Spot now having much fun on P25 and other modes.

Development does seem to have stopped, very disappointing.

Only minor trivial FW updates, and not many of them.

The homepage still states "More supported networks and features will be available with new firmware releases."

Maybe that's the reason.

I have no knowledge of P25 because it appears to be used in other parts of the world from where I am.

What is good about it? Is it better than DMR? If so, why?

P25 has better audio quality (my opinion) and is a lot easier to use.

They are all using the same chip. They all use the same technology when it comes to these hotspots except for Dstar. The voice sounds the same. Only difference is, some use Motorola and the audio that comes out of Motorola radios is much better than a cheap MD380 or Anytone. Chinese radios are what they are.
P25 has nothing to do with it. If they are so different then why is the chip the same? The radios are what makes the sound better. Wow....
