CW ID

Post by rfopenspot »

The openSPOT just keys it's transmitter on and off for the CW. If you pay attention to the squelch tails, you will understand the CW it sends perfectly. Would perhaps be better if it actually key the TX and sent tones instead.

This won't be added. Sending an unmodulated carrier is enough to comply with regulations.

The original poster of this thread copied my comment from Facebook, but eliminated the last few words which altered my intended meaning. The rest of my original comment is in RED.

The openSPOT just keys it's transmitter on and off for the CW. If you pay attention to the squelch tails, you will understand the CW it sends perfectly. Would perhaps be better if it actually key the TX and sent tones instead, but that's not how this device does it. Still, it's a perfectly legal ID.

Just to clarify I fully understand the concept and design of the openSPOT's CW ID. I commend the developers efforts on such a great product.
