The iPhone have the SSID by default in the format "John's iPhone" and it uses a special apostrophe character which can't be entered from the keyboard. If you copy and paste the SSID so that special apostrophe is entered in the openSPOT2 web interface then the OS2 will handle it correctly.
Where on the iPhone do we find this? I tried general/about but don't see the special character.

Go to the setings icom and click o General and then the About option. Change (if wished) the name appearing on About. That will be your network name on the Iphone.

I set up 1 profile with my home wi-fi listed first, then my iPhone hotspot wi-fi listed second. Once I left home in the car, the OS2 lost the home wi-fi signal and quickly logged into my phone's wi-fi hotspot. I found this a bit easier than setting up a second profile.

I think I found the right procedure for the Iphone connection to the OS2.

Iphone usually sends the "beacon" to establish connection with another device for a limited time only. That aims to save on battery.

So, what worked out for me was the following and in this order:

1- Turn-off the OS2
2- Turn-on the router on the Iphone (personal access)
3 - Immediately after, turn-on the OS2

The two expected messages were heard:

Profile 1 ready
Openspot connected to xxxxx

The whole thing took no longer than 15 seconds.

As previously said, It is essential in any wifi connection to have exactly the same SSID and Password on both units. For the Iphone I just made it simpler, identified it as Eduardo, instead of Eduardo's Iphone.

Good luck,

Here s a video I made a few minutes ago showing my issue of having to power cycle my iPhone to get the OpenSpot2 to connect to it.

I would suggest the following:

1 - Change the name of your Iphone and OS2 SSID to something simpler. Just a simple name first.

2 - Leave your OS2 off.

3 - Turn-off entirely your iPhone.

4 - Put it on again

5 - Turn on OS2

I hope that works for you.

I am not sure where the demo video was made, but I find with mine I have to be out of range of the house wifi before the connection works.

Since profiles are set up and "saved" on the "Settings" page and wireless connections are set up and "saved" on the "Network" page, it's not apparent to me if e.g. a change in a wireless connection is made and "saved", must one go back to the "Settings" page and save there also? Or are wireless connections automatically saved to the current profile (unless of course the checkbox is checked to save to all profiles)?

If "Save to all configuration profiles" is enabled then all wireless settings (SSID and key) are saved automatically to all profiles.
