Linking Directly to Second DSTAR Hotspot??

Post by W5DNT » Thu Feb 14, 2019 4:54 pm

Can one DSTAR hotspot link directly to another hotspot, without a repeater or reflector? If so how is that programmed in the callsign fields? If so, can the hotspots have the same callsign? This is for an emergency communications environment with two separate buildings that need to be linked, without putting the comms out on a repeater or reflector, but still be open unencrypted at each hotspot.

Thanks for any help you.

I guess, yes. Configure one of those openspots as SharkRF Connector Protocol server and the second one as client. Set the modem mode to DSTAR. Open required port of the firewall. I don't have DSTAR radios, so I cannot verify this. Let us know if it works.
