Post by Tony1967 » Sun Jun 02, 2019 1:26 pm

Hi I have just purchased a OpenSpot 2 and should be here in a week,I’m currently studying to get my foundation Licence so have no call sign yet,my question is can I still set up my OpenSpot 2 without a callsign to listen to Dstar etc, obviously I don’t want to transmit without a license, any help would be greatly appreciated many thanks Tony

You have to fill in the callsign field, as servers require the callsign of the connecting client. Some older D-STAR servers also require a D-STAR callsign registration, which needs a valid callsign, but the majority of D-STAR servers are now running XLX which does not check callsign validity.
